Rishabh Pant Creates IPL HISTORY, Becomes First Indian To...

Rishabh Pant ended the league stage of the IPL 2024 with 446 runs from 13 games at a strike rate of 155.40. He thus becomes the first Indian to score 300+ runs at a strike rate of over 150 in five different seasons. He has previously managed to achieve this milestone in the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2024 seasons.

Rishabh Pant returned to play cricket in IPL 2024 after more than 1.5 years since his accident.
He had a splendid season where he emerged as Delhi Capitals' highest run-scorer.
He managed to become the first Indian to achieve a big IPL feat.

Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants in their final IPL 2024 group stage encounter on May 14 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi by 19 runs. They have thus finished their campaign on 14 points and still have a small glimmer of hope of reaching the playoffs of the competition. Rishabh Pant, their captain, has been one of the stories of the season so far, as he returned to play the sport after more than 1.5 years since his horrific car accident back in December 2022. He has been in sensational form this season, and has managed to become the first Indian to achieve a sensational feat.

Here are the IPL seasons, when Rishabh Pant managed to score more than 300 runs at a strike rate of over 150:

IPL 2017 - 366 runs || 165.61 Strike Rate

IPL 2018 - 684 runs || 173.60 Strike Rate

IPL 2019 - 488 runs || 162.67 Strike Rate

IPL 2022 - 340 runs || 151.79 Strike Rate

IPL 2024 - 446 runs || 155.40 Strike Rate

Rishabh Pant had a pretty solid season as he led the Delhi Capitals on the verge of the playoffs. However, he was banned for one match against RCB, after being Delhi Capitals were found guilty of violating the over rate limit for three different times in the IPL. Incidentally, DC lost that match. Speaking after the win against LSG, Rishabh Pant took a sly dig at his ban, saying that if he was there, DC would have a better chance of winning against RCB.

"I wouldn't say we would have definitely won the game if I had played. But we had a better chance of qualifying if I would have had a chance to play in the last game," Pant said.

DC End League Stage With Convincing Win

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and elected to bowl first. Delhi Capitals put up decent score of 208, even though they lost Jake Fraser Mcgurk for a duck. Abhishek Porel scored 58 at the top of the order, with Tristan Stubbs providing a strong finish with a 57-run knock.

The DC bowlers were all over the LSG batters, as they picked up early wickets, with Ishant Sharma leading the line, with 3 scalps. Arshad Khan provided some late flourish and looked to take the game away. However, they ultimately won the match by 19 runs.
