Amazing zoo even with all of the construction. It will be even better when they finish everything. The enclosures for the animals are well maintained and plenty of space. The staff were friendly and willing to share information about their animals. So many great things to see.

Lots of construction for new exhibits. Going to be amazing when done. Enjoyed all the animals that were out. The Pygmy Hippo habitat is done and amazing. They were swimming and diving and putting on a show. In and out the water. So much fun to watch. Going to keep going to watch and enjoy the progress. Love the otters and brushing the goats.

It was just ok. They are doing a lot of reconstruction so really wasn’t a whole lot to see. My kids enjoyed it but I was underwhelmed. Def needs the train running, more food areas without birds and just an overall update.

Excellent spot on a nice sunny day to walk around and see some great animals, with good variety. They have some renovations on going, but still pleasant. They have a Wednesday special, from 2-4 the entry fee is only $1.50. Best day to go.

Took my grandchildren for their birthday this past weekend. This was our first visit and we loved it. While a large portion is being renovated the kids still had a wonderful time. We appreciated the passes to return in the futurem and look forward to the new exhibits. The tiger exhibit was beautiful and the kids enjoyed the playground and petting zoo.

Teh zoo is currently under renovation, but regardless, we had a great time. The variety of animals exceeded our expectations. There is lots of shade throughout the zoo to help keep you cool during the hot summer months,
We went on a Thursday morning and there were no crowds at all. Highly recommend this zoo. As a bonus, we received a pair of tickets to return later in the year when renovations are finished.

Even in the middle of major renovations, the Baton Rouge BREC Zoo was the place to go on a fall afternoon for sunshine and fresh air. The staff at the zoo were accommodating and even the construction crew welcomed us.
Looking forward to the train getting up and running again but until then we look forward to ZooLights at Christmas time.

My family had a great time visiting the Baton Rouge Zoo. They offered a wide variety of animals that were well taken care of. The layout of the zoo wasn’t confusing or hard to follow. It took us about 3-4 hours to view all the animals. A few of my favorite parts were the aviary where you got to get up close and personal with exotic birds, the exhibit that showcased Louisiana’s native wildlife and the free-roaming peacocks and armadillos. Definitely one of my favorite zoos!

We had a good time exploring the zoo. Covid rules in place, park was clean. Disappointed that aquarium and train was not open due to covid restrictions. Really enjoyed the cajun food at cafe', had meat pies and crawfish balls surrounded by the company of peacocks. This is a older zoo with many older style habitats. Hope they have plans to update in future to larger more open exibits for the animals. I have been to better zoos, but I have been to way worse. Lot of growth potential for this zoo with additional funding which I sure is a challenge, as with most zoos. However, still worth a visit to support their efforts.

The animals are just placed on lawns throughout the facility. Not much work is done to recreate the environments in which they originally habitate. Furthermore, they're often just behind chain link fences, which makes it difficult to see, and makes it feel much more like a prison for the animals than a shelter for them.
The informational panels could use a little bit more detail.
The whole park seems to need some serious upkeep.
The staff were very friendly and kind. The pricing was very decent and fair.
If you're able, the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans is much better in every aforementioned category.
