Congratulations again and welcome to the NSU University School family. As you prepare for school to begin in August, please use this page as your one-stop information hub for all things USchool. What's Next?

Username and Password Information
In July, we will send you an email with your Parent Username and instructions on how to set up your Password. You will need your Parent Username and Password to access the main online systems you will use as a USchool parent (Magnus Health, My Backpack, and Canvas). Links to these online portals can be found by going to the NSU University School website (www.uschool.nova.edu) and clicking the “Login” button on the top right-hand side of the page. Once you receive your Username and Password, if you have any questions, please contact our Help Desk at uschoolhelpdesk@nova.edu or 954-262-4527.

Annual Forms
Beginning in July, required health forms as well as emergency pick-up, lightning dismissal, student handbook acknowledgements, and preschool childcare licensing forms will be available for all parents to complete via our online health portal, Magnus Health. All forms must be completed prior to the start of school. Please be aware that certain medical forms are required for your child to start school in August.

- New students need to obtain a School Entry Health form from their doctor.
- New students need to obtain an updated Certificate of Immunization form from their doctor.
- Any student who takes a prescribed or over-the-counter medication needs to click here to download and complete the Authorization for Medication form.

All of the above-mentioned forms will need to be uploaded into Magnus Health beginning in July.

School Uniforms and Vendors
School uniforms (required for students entering Junior Kindergarten - Grade 12) are available at several locations including Dennis Uniforms, Flynn & O’Hara School Uniforms, and Lands' End School Uniforms. Uniform contact information can be found by clicking here. PE uniforms (for students in K-5 only) can only be purchased from Dennis Uniforms and Flynn & O’Hara School Uniforms. We strongly encourage you to click here and review the student dress code prior to making any type of uniform purchase.

Electives for Fourth and Fifth Graders
Elective selections for the 2024-25 school year will occur in May 2024. Please stay tuned to your email for additional information.

Athletic Forms for Students in Grades 6-12
Forms for athletic physicals must be submitted online by clicking here and creating an account. To view detailed instructions on how to create an account, click here. To access the physician form that must be printed out and given to a physician to complete, as noted in step 9 of the instructions, please click here; upon completion, it should be scanned and uploaded to the Athletic Clearance website. If you would like to get your sports physical on the NSU campus, click here. Students cannot participate in athletic activities without submission of these forms.

Parking Decals for Parents and Upper School Students
As an NSU University School family, you will be able to register 2 vehicles for free parking on the NSU campus. Upper School students who drive to school must PURCHASE a parking pass from the Upper School Office. Stay tuned to your email for more information regarding parent and student parking decal details.

Canvas (for students in kindergarten - 12th grade only)
Canvas is NSU University School's learning management system. To view our video tutorial on how to use Canvas, click here. Content will be posted in Canvas close to the start of the school year.

My Backpack
My Backpack is the online platform that allows students and parents to view important school information, submit school contracts, search the student/parent directory, and view student grades and attendance. Transportation
NSU University School does not provide transportation for students, however, transportation is available through outside vendors or independent third-party providers listed. Click here for more information.

Orientations
Preschool (PK1-JK) – Tuesday, August 13
Students and parents are invited to see classrooms between 9:00 – 11:30am to meet and greet their teachers and classmates. The UFO will also host a Welcome Coffee from 9:00am until 11:30am. Please stop by to meet and greet UFO Preschool representatives. 

Lower School (K-5) - Tuesday, August 13
8:30 – 9:30am – New Families
9:30 – 10:30am – Returning Families
Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers and visit classrooms. Families are also encouraged to stop by the Lower School Gym for information about After School Activities & After Care, Chartwells lunch service, independent bus service providers, the University Family Organization and volunteer opportunities available, My Backpack and Canvas and help with both platforms, and to meet with the Lower School nurse. Additional school personnel will be on hand to answer any questions.

Middle School - Monday, August 12
All 6th grade students plus 7th and 8th grade students who are New to USchool should report to the front walkway of the Middle School Dauer Building starting at 8:30am to sign in and begin their morning. Orientation for these students is from 8:30-11:30am. We welcome all 6th grade parents to attend a parent orientation and welcome coffee at the AutoNation Center for the Arts from 8:45-1:00am where our Middle School director will provide an overview of the Middle School.

Please remember that students who are new to USchool must bring the electronic device that they will be using during the school year. Also, if your child is new to NSU University School and is not contacted by a member of New 2 U by the end of July, please email Simone Miles, Middle School Guidance Counselor, at sfranci1@nova.edu

Upper School - Monday, August 12
All NEW 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students should report to the front walkway of the Sonken Upper School Building starting at 8:30am and will remain at Orientation until 11:30am. All current USchool students rising from 8th to 9th grade for the 2024-25 school year should report to the back patio of the Sonken Upper School Building at 9:30am and will remain at Orientation until 11:30am. Please remember that students who are NEW to USchool must bring the electronic device that they will be using during the school year. Also, there will be a College Planning Workshop for all 12th grade students (new and returning) at the AutoNation Center for the Arts at 1:00pm. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Miranda.  

Senior Portraits
All students in the Class of 2024 should contact Gerlinde Photography to schedule their senior portraits. The deadline is October 1. Parents can call 954-961-4450 (ext. 107) to schedule an appointment.

 

ULink

ULink is the weekly, electronic newsletter that is sent to all families every Tuesday morning at 6:00am. This newsletter runs from the week prior to school beginning until the last day of school. (ULink is NOT published over the summer.)

Summer Reading

Summer reading is required for students entering grades 4-12 and optional for students entering grades K-3. More information to follow in May.

Technology Requirements

NSU University School students in Grades 3-12 are required to have a PC laptop (running Windows 10 or later) or a Mac OSX laptop device for daily use in school. Chromebooks are not permitted.

Supplies

Teachers in grades K-12 do not post supply lists; rather, students are encouraged to purchase basic supplies like pens, pencils, and highlighters. Teachers will discuss any additional supply requirements during the first week of school.
