The Uluru Games have returned with the arrival of Reverse: 1999 Version 1.5, an Australia-themed update with much to offer. The main event of this version update is, of course, the Revival of the Uluru Games main event story, which sees Vertin team up with a rag-tag team of Australian Arcanists (as well as a Laplace Arccanist enthusiast) to bring about the revival of an ancient and storied Arcanist celebration: the legendary, and dangerous, Uluru Games. Alongside the new story, the first phase of Version 1.5 also adds several new playable characters, a new event shop where you can pick up exclusive Psycubes and Wilderness tiles, and, several other mini-events, including the new Reunion of Fire Story Event.

Spathodea is the first new 6-star of version 1.5 and, not only does she play a huge and important role in the Revival of the Uluru Games event, but she also gets her own Story Event in the form of Reunion of Fires, the latest chess piece puzzle challenge in Reverse: 1999. Similar to previous Story Events for Shamane, 37, Tooth Fairy and more, Reunion of Fires will take you through Spathodea’s backstory with some new lore while also asking you to complete several tricky tests and challenges. Manage to overcome all twelve stages and you’ll be walking away with plenty of rewards, including up to 240 Clear Drop.

Here’s how to complete all of the levels in the new Reverse 1999 event, Reunion of Fires, with two stars so that you can get all the rewards this event story has to offer.

Outside of the Revival of the Uluru Games event story, Reunion of Fires is one of the main events Timekeepers will be partaking in during the first phase of Reverse 1999 Version 1.5. It also acts as Spathodea’s Sory Event, giving us all a better look at her background and how she became the fiery little boxer we met in the Uluru Games. Reunion of Fires will be available to play from the start of Version 1.5 on April 19th until the 9th of May, which is when the second phase of 1.5 will begin. Additionally, to unlock access to Reunion of Fires and all of its rewards, you must first complete The Uluru Guardians, Stage 15 of the Revival of the Uluru Games event story.

Reunion of Fires is split up into two main parts, each of which is split up into parts. The first half of the event featured new puzzle gameplay alongside a lot of cutscenes and dialogue about Spathodea’s past and how she became a boxer. This part has a total of eight stages to complete, although two of them – RF-1 Ignition and RF-8 The Story of Me and You –  are just bits of narrative without any at the beginning and end of the event. You’ll find these stages under the Part 1 and Part 2 tabs:

  • RF-2 Clattering Pebbles
  • RF-3 The Ones Chasing the Flame
  • RF-4 Beyond the Flame
  • RF-5 Within the Palm
  • RF-6 Sugar and Salt
  • RF-7 Morning Alarm

Meanwhile, in the second half of the event, you’ll undertake six curated puzzles which are a lot more challenging than anything in the story portion of Reunion of Flames. These stages don’t contain any extra story, only more complex gameplay sections. These six stages can be found under the Insert 1 and Insert 2 sections:

  • RF-SP-1 Preparing the Venue
  • RF-SP-2 Racewalking
  • RF-SP-3 The People’s Games
  • RF-SP-4 Hearsay
  • RF-SP-5 Safe Evacuation
  • RF-SP-6 The Torch Relay

If you manage to complete all stages with two stars, you can earn yourself a bunch of rewards, including resources used to upgrade Spathodea and Ulu’s Insight. Additionally, and most importantly to most players, is that obtaining a total of 20 stars in Reunion of Fires will net you 240 Clear Drop to spend on whatever Summon Banner you wish.

RF-2: Clattering Pebbles Solution

The first puzzle stage you get access to in Reunion of Fires is Clattering Pebbles, the second stage of the event. Like all previous Reverse: 1999, the main goal of this stage is to just teach you the basics and how the mechanics in this event differ from other, similar puzzle events. For Reunion of the Flames, there are several gimmicks you need to be aware of, with the main one being that you must reach and ignite all of the bonfires on a given stage to complete it.

Reaching these bonfires doesn’t just progress the stage, though. They also grant you energy which can be consumed for a powerful fireball attack that will destroy almost anything standing in its path. These fireballs are mainly used to carve away your enemies, unblock paths, and defeat statues. For future reference, if you ever see an orange line on the images below, that’s the part of the map where you need to use your fireball

If you want to complete Clattering Pebbles with two stars, you must ignite all of the bonfires while defeating all of the Guardian Statues, the rectangular monoliths which will destroy you if you step into their line of sight

  1. Begin by going Up x2 > Right > Up to destroy the first two Guardian Statues.
  2. Left > Up x3 to reach the ignite the first bonfire. This will also give you one energy charge, allowing you to cast a single fireball.
  3. Right x2 and then use your fireball to destroy the Patrolling Statue below your current position.
  4. To reach the second bonfire, go Down > Right x2 > Up. Once again, you will earn another fireball charge, which you should immediately use to destroy the Guardian Statue below you.
  5. This will carve a safe path forward, allowing you to destroy the last Guardian Statue by going Down x2 > Right > Down > Left x2
  6. The last obstacle is the final Patrolling Statue, which you can sidestep by going Down > Up > Down > Right > Down x2, taking you straight to the final bonfire.

RF-3: The Ones Chasing the Flame

Reunion of Fire’s second playable stage, The Ones Chasing the Flame, introduces the last major enemy you’ll encounter in the event. Walking Statues sit dormant around the map, only activating once you walk on a tile within the same column as them: once activated, they will relentlessly chase you throughout the map, not stopping until either you or them are destroyed.

This is also the first stage where you play as Spathodea instead of Ulu, with the key differences between the two being that Spathodea is capable of triggering slate traps and wind-eroded ground, the latter of which is introduced in this stage.

To clear The Ones Chasing the Flame with two stars, you must ignite all the bonfires while destroying all of the statues on the stage, which includes both Walking Statues.

  1. Begin the stage by moving Right > Up x3 to reach the first bonfire. This action will also activate the first Walking Statue which you should immediately destroy with your first fireball charge.
  2. From there, go Up x4 > Right x3, which will cause you to pass the second bonfire, giving you another fireball which you must use to destroy the Guardian Statue blocking the path forward.
  3. Once the Guardian Statue is dealt with, you can reach the last bonfire by going Right x2 > Down x2 > Left x2 > Down x2. This set of actions will trigger the final Walking Statue but, by following the path, you will crack the uneven ground, causing the Statue to fall into it when it attempts to follow you, destroying it and granting you two stars for the stage.

RF-4: Beyond the Flame

Stage 4, Beyond the Flame, throws in yet another new element with slate traps. Whenever a slate trap is triggered by a heavy enough character walking on top of it, it will cause crossbows across the map to fire straight forward, destroying the first character or statue they hit in the process. You can see where the crossbows are going to shoot based on the yellow tiles around the map. Do note that, as Ulu, you cannot trigger slate traps or wind-eroded ground, but you can still be defeated by crossbows if you’re caught in their path.

To walk away from Beyond the Flame with two stars in Reverse: 1999, you will need to destroy all the statues on the stage while lighting the two bonfires.

  1. The opening stretch of the level is very easy as it’s just a tutorial for how slate traps work. Go Left > Up x2 > Right > Up x4 > Right x3 to reach the first bonfire and get a fireball charge.
  2. From there, go Down > Right x2 to activate the nearby Walking Statue. To destroy it, you must bait it into the path of the crossbows by going Right > Left x2 > Right. This set of actions will cause the Statue to walk into the trap’s path at the same time the Patrolling Statue steps on the trap, destroying it instantly.
  3. From there, go Right > Down x2 > Left x2. Then, use your fireball charge to destroy the last Patrolling Statue.
  4. With no threats in your way, finish the stage by going Down x2  > Right > Up > Right > Down x2.

RF-5: Within the Palm

Reunion of Fires’ fifth stage, Within the Palm, is another stage thick with Walking Statues and Guardian Statues, forcing you to walk your step carefully if you want to complete it. There are only two bonfires at this stage, meaning that you’ll only have one fireball charge at your disposal.

To complete Within the Palm with two stars in Reverse: 1999, you must ignite all the bonfires but you only need to defeat all of the Guardian Statues

  1. Start by heading Up x5 > Right  >4 to reach the first bonfire. This stage’s only Walking Statue will begin stalking you after your first movement so keep an eye on it. No matter how tempting, do not destroy the Walking Statue with your fireball charge.
  2. Once you reach the bonfire, go Down > Right > Down > Right > Down to reach, and destroy, the first Guardian Statue. This will also destroy the Walking Statue when it tries to follow you onto some wind-eroded ground.
  3. From there, go Left x2 to destroy another Guardian Statue, and then use your fireball charge to destroy the Guardian Statue on the other side of the stone wall. This will clear a path forward.

RF-6: Sugar and Salt

Reunion of Fires’ second to last stage, RF-6 Sugar and Salt, is easily the most challenging stage of the initial seven. Not only does it have all three types of statues to contend with, but it also has a very specific, very tricky, mini-puzzle involving a slate trap. In this stage, you’ll be playing as Spathodea.

Fortunately, to clear this stage with two stars, you only need to destroy the single Guardian Statue and not all of the Patrolling or Walking Statues.

  1. Start the stage by going Up before heading Left x2 > Up x2 > Right. This will take you into the path of the incoming Patrolling Statue so, to make sure you avoid it, double back on yourself by going Left > Down x2. Doing this will allow you to follow behind the Statue without getting caught by it.
  2. Next, go Up x2 > Right x2 > Up x2 to reach the first bonfire and grab your only fireball for the stage.
  3. Once you’ve obtained the fireball, you need to head back towards the Patrolling Statues so that you can destroy the Guardian Statue. To do so, go Down x2 > Right x2, then use your fireball to destroy the Patrolling Statue on the path below you.
  4. With that Patrolling Statue taken care of, you can head Down x2 > Right to reach, and destroy, this stage’s Guardian Statue. This will also open up the path to the slate trap for the Patrolling Statue on the bottom path.
  5. To finish up this first section, quickly go Left > Up > Left x3 > Right > Up x3 to make it back to the bonfire.

Now that you’ve escaped the Patrolling Statues and opened the path to the slate trap, you’ll need to deal with two pesky Walking Statues before you can close out the stage.

  1. To bait out the first Walking Statue, go Up > Right x2 > Up > Right. This will cause the top-most statue to begin stalking you.
  2. Next, walk Left > Down x2 into a small nook just off the crossbow’s path. If you timed it correctly, the Walking Statue should be right behind you, meaning that it will walk into the trap’s path as the Patrolling Statue sets it off, destroying it.
  3. As for the second Walking Statue, head Up x2 > Right x2 to activate it.
  4. This time, to bait it into the trap, you need to go Left x2 > Down > Left x2 > Down x2 > Up. Just like the first time, this set of actions will stall enough time and make sure the Walking Statue gets gunned down by the crossbows at the correct moment.
  5. From there, the path to the final bonfire is free: just go Up > Right x2 > Up > Right x2 > Down x3 > Right > Down x2 and you’ll make it to the end of the stage.

RF-7: Morning Alarm

The final stage in the story portion of Reverse: 1999’s Reunion of the Flames event is Morning Alarm and it’s a combination of everything you’ve learned.

To clear Morning Alarm with the maximum number of stars, you must defeat all of the statues on the stage, meaning that you must destroy both Guardian Statues as well as two Walking Statues and a Patrolling Statue.

  1. Start the stage by going Down, which activates the Walking Statue.
  2. From there, head straight Up x6 to lead the Walking Statue into the slate trap. This will cause the crossbows to destroy the Guardian Statue blocking the path, allowing you to go Right x2 to reach the first bonfire.
  3. Now that you’re at the bonfire, use the fireball to destroy the dormant Walking Statue above the bonfire.
  4. Then, go Right > Down > Right x3 > Up to destroy the next Guardian Statue while avoiding the traps being set off by the Patrolling Statue.
  5. To destroy this stage’s last opponent, go Down x2 > Left x3 > Down > Right > Down x2 > Left. This will activate the crossbows as the Patrolling Statue is in the danger zone, destroying it and allowing you to reach the end (Right > Down) scot-free.

RF-SP-1: Preparing the Venue

Preparing the Venue is the first of the special stages in Reunion of Fires in Reverse: 1999. These stages will combine all of the elements from previous stages in strange ways, with wind-eroded tiles being particularly abundant.

To reach two stars on Preparing the Venue, you need to light all the bonfires and destroy all the statues on the stage

  1. Begin by going Up x2  > Right > Up x2 > Left > Up x2. This set of actions will lure in both of the Walking Statues on the stage and bait them into walking on the disturbed wind-eroded ground you’ve previously walked on, instantly destroying two of your biggest hurdles in this stage.
  2. Now that you’re at the bonfire, go Down > Right before popping your fireball to destroy the Guardian Statue blocking the path.
  3. With the way open, head Right x3 > Down x3 to both finish the stage and destroy the last Patrolling Statue with the slate trap.

RF-SP-2: Racewalking

Racewalking is perhaps the toughest and most immediately confusing stage in Reunion of Fires. The only interactables on the stage are Guardian Statues and wind-eroded ground, making backtracking and traversal incredibly limited. With each of the four bonfires surrounded by instant-kill Guardian Statues, it’s an extremely difficult stage. There’s a very specific path you need to follow to get this stage done.

What’s even worse is that, in order to get two stars on the stage, you need to defeat all 11 Guardian Statues on the stage

  1. The first bonfire you’ll be visiting is the one at the bottom right of the map. To reach it, go Up > Right > Up x3 > Right x3 > Down x2 > Left > Down. This will take out the Guardian Statues huddled around the bonfire easily.
  2. Before you leave, make sure you throw your first fireball charge across the map to the Guardian Statue below the bottom left bonfire as it is required for later.
  3. Next, go Left > Up x2 > Left > Up > Left x2 > Down x2 > Left x2. This will take you to the empty spot where one of the Guardian Statues once stood.
  4. From here, head Down > Up > Right > Up x4 which will take out four more Guardian Statues and take you past two more bonfires, giving you two fireballs to work with.
  5. From your current position, throw your two fireballs across the map to the two Guardian Statues surrounding the top right bonfire.
  6. Finally, reach the final bonfire by going Down > Right x6 > Up

RF-SP-3: The People’s Games

The third special stage in the Reunion of Fires is The People’s Games. The main hurdle here is traversal-based, with Patrolling Statues and tight timing windows making thin corridors hard to bypass.

If you want to clear The People’s Games with two stars, you need to ignite all the bonfires while defeating the stage’s four Guardian Statues.

  1. The first part of the stage is a series of tight corridors with several Patrolling Statues and Guardian Statues. To get through it, go Right > Down x2 > Right > Up > Left > Up > Right x2 > Up > Right > Down > Left > Down > Right x2
  2. After escaping the maze, you’ll end up at the first bonfire and earn the first fireball charge.
  3. Next, use your fireball to destroy the Walking Statue sitting dormant above the slate trap. This opens the path for the nearby Patrolling Statue, allowing it to trigger the crossbow traps.
RF-SP-3 Solution Part 1

RF-SP-3 Solution Part 1

The next part of the stage involves using the Patrolling Statue and the slate trap to unblock the path to the final bonfire. A lot of this part of the stage is simply wasting time and stalling out tiles until the path becomes clear.

  1. From the bonfire, go Up x3 > Right > Down > Left > Up and continue that loop several times.
  2. Keep doing that loop until both of the Guardian Statues are destroyed by the crossbows.
  3. Next, you need to reach the bonfire before the Patrolling Statue makes another pass to the slate trap. To do that, go Left > Up x2 > Left x4, taking you to the final bonfire and finishing out the stage.

RF-SP-4: Hearsay

The first special stage of Insert 2 is Hearsary, the fourth overall special stage in Reunion of Fires in Reverse 1999. The main gimmick with this stage is that you’ll be on a constant timer: at the top of the screen, locked away from your explorable area, is a Patrolling Statue that will constantly activate a slate trap, triggering a bunch of crossbows across the whole map. You need to make it to both of the bonfires in this stage while keeping the trap activation time in mind.

Speaking of, to obtain two stars in this stage, you need to ignite all of the bonfires while also destroying both of the Guardian Statues in the process.

  1. First off, to reach the first bonfire, go Down x3 > Up > Left x2 > Down x4.
  2. Next, go Right x2 > Up. Then, before continuing, throw your fireball charge across the map to destroy the Guardian Statue near the bottom of the map, clearing up a path for the rest of the stage.
  3. Now, with the path free, you can destroy the next Guardian Statue. Up x2 > Left x2 > Down > Left x2 > Up.
  4. With all of the Guardian Statues destroyed, you can go Left x2 to wander to the final bonfire and leave the stage.

RF-SP-5: Safe Evacuation

Safe Evacuation is the second to last stage in Reunion of Flames in Reverse 1999 and it’s the dedicated slate trap stage of the event. There are a lot of different trap tiles in this stage, as well as plenty of places where you can get caught, so watch your footing.

To clear this stage with maximum stars, you must beat the stage and ignite all the bonfires while defeating all the statues

  1. Begin by going Up > Left > Right. This will set up the two nearby Patrolling Statues, allowing you to destroy them with the first pair of slate traps.
  2. Next, go Up x5 > Left to reach the first bonfire.
  3. Before moving on, use the fireball charge you just acquired to destroy the Guardian Statue on your row.
  4. With that gone, head Right > Up x2 > Down x2 > Right > Down. This will destroy one of the Patrolling Statues and activate the last remaining dormant Walking Statue.
  5. To destroy the final Walking Statue and reach the end, go Right > Up x2 > Down x2 > Left > Down x3

RF-SP-6: The Torch Relay

Last but not least, the final special stage, and the final stage in general, in the Reunion of Fires event in Reverse: 1999 is The Torch Relay, a fitting name to cap off the first half of the Uluru Games. This stage truly is a combination of every gimmick you’ve seen so far: Patrolling Statues, Walking Statues, Guardian Statues, slate traps and wind-eroded ground will all make their final appearance in this stage, forcing you to strategies heavily if you want to beat it.

To finish the final stage in Reunion of Fires with two stars, you need to defeat all of the statues in the stage while igniting the stage’s bonfires

  1. Start by going Up x2 > Right x2 > Down. This will activate the Walking Statue, destroy the first Guardian Statue, and get you to the first bonfire.
  2. Next, you’re going to go Left x2 > Up > Right to arrange yourself in the right spot. Once you’re there, throw the fireball up towards the Guardian Statue blocking the path.
  3. After the Guardian Statue is gone, go Right > Down > Left x2 > Up x5. This will take you straight to the next bonfire and destroy the Walking Statue thanks to the aid of the wind-eroded tiles.
  4. Next, from the bonfire, go Down x2 > Right and throw your next fireball across the map to destroy the Guardian Statue on the same row as you. This will free the Patrolling Statue, allowing it to trigger the slate traps.
  5. Up x2 >Right > Left > Right x2 > Down > Right x2 > Up x2. This will let you get rid of all the remaining Guardian Statues, as well as the pesky Patrolling Statue.
  6. The last hurdle you’ll face is one last Walking Statue. To lure it into the crossbow’s path, go Down x4 > Right > Left x2 > Down > Up > Right x2 > Up x4. Once it’s been dealt with, the path to the final bonfire is free to traverse safely.

That was how to complete all the stages in Reunion of Fires, the latest puzzle event in Reverse: 1999 Version 1.5.
