To be honest, it's a whimsy movie with great jokes, an overly-cartoonish art style we adored in the first film, and a hearty message. The plot overall was thin, but because this was a sequel based on a character we knew relatively nothing about, I'd give Kronk the thumbs up he deserves. So to recap (no spoilers, just brief opinion):
-Comedy carries over well from the previous film.
-A weak plot that's almost directly correlated to a strong message many people need to hear (a good handoff, in my opinion).
-A fun, whimsical art style with cartoony noises and comedically unexplainable events to accompany it.
-Good music, but instead of being jazz and soul heavy like the first film, the focal point was on the emotional pieces.
-Incredible voice acting alongside heartfelt character development.
-A good movie to watch, very easy to joke about it with friends and family!

Much like with chicken little and shark tale, my childhood nostalgia still has unironic love for it, but I completely understand why it's rated so low by everyone else. Opinions are justified, I just disagree a tiny bit.

Solid 70% good.
When I saw how low this movie got, I was puzzled. I believe it's this low for these reasons;
1. The part with Birdwell went out of the "nice creepy" to "gross" quite a few times.
2. The characters are super simple.
3. It's a bottle movie without all the adventures the first movie did.
4. It was a Disney Direct-to-DVD that inherently didn't hold a candle to the diamond created from carbon under pressure (aka the first movie).
5. We should have gotten Yzma's New Groove or Pacha's New Groove first.
6. We don't get alot of Kuzco-Kronk relationship, or Kronk-Pacha relationship, and we didn't see how Kuzco is doing as the humbled Sapa Inca. And these are the kinds of relationships and ideas that we all subconsciously wanted to see.
But even with all those facts and flaws, the movie itself... Is good, actually.At least for a 12-year old boy that is a little like me. The plot isn't as weak as we all say(though it is forced and overly simple, bending over backwards to reach a bar it could easily go over), the comedy is definitely strong and solid, all the relationships that are built up are emotional, sincere, and easy to get invested in(even the romantic one((ugh)), and while the movie, like it's predecessor, attempts to ignore it,s Inca setting, other times I believe it embraces some parts the same way The Emperor's New Groove does.
And finally, I read one review where they point out the titles of both movies, and how one works better than the other, and I disagree. In the Emperor's New Groove, the new groove is how Kuzco has changed his selfish, egomaniac pattern of behaviour and routine into a more kind and grounded one. But, according to the review I read, in Kronk's New Groove, Kronk doesn't change his way of life, he just changes his perspective of it. And while that's technically true, that's not a solid excuse to wave off the title in my opinion. One's lifestyle is not just about what you actually do, but HOW you view it, and how you really feel about it. Kronk is shown to secretly be ashamed and embarassed by the life he has, and clearly tries to change a fundamental part of it. And not because he wants to, but because he feels he has something to prove or fix. But both times he attempts this, he finds that it's either the morally right one, or even really his to have. By the end of the movie, he realizes this, and fully embraces his groove; finally making it his. I hope the reader of this review re-watches this movie with this review in mind, and realize it's underratted, and raises the score up a bit. After all, if we destroy one part of the Emperor's New Groove franchise, we may never get a Yzma's New Groove,
WHICH WE ALL KNOW WE WANT AND NEED!!!!
