JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old woman from early morning Saturday at a Roosevelt Boulevard gas station.

On May 4, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard where they found the victim, Demeshia Gainer, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department also responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. Police said the shooting occurred in front of several witnesses.

Isaiah Hawkins, 33, was identified as a person of interest during the investigation, the agency said.

Hawkins was found Tuesday during a traffic stop and taken to the Police Memorial Building for an interview. After an interview with detectives, Hawkins was arrested and charged with murder, JSO said.
