As a beginner quilter, it’s best to start with 100% cotton quilting fabrics that are easy to work with. Cotton holds up well to repeated washing and keeps its shape. Some great options include:

Broadcloth – Lightweight and soft. Great for piecing quilt tops and binding.

Quilter’s Cotton – Versatile cotton with a nice drape. Excellent for both piecing and applique.

Calico – Fun small prints. Ideal for scrap quilts or charm packs.
