I have lived here almost my whole life and have always loved it, until covid. Everything has changed and so many people are moving here from places like California and bringing all the horrible policies and tendencies that led to the situation where they are leaving in droves in the first place.
Everyone is in a hurry, everyone's angry and on edge. Nobody can afford housing unless you were already doing well before you came here. Those of us from here wish it hadn't changed; its a nightmare.

This town has turned into a nightmare. A decade ago it was peaceful and quaint with a sense of community and care with only a population of 5000+, now its over 11,000. Crime is sky-high now, drugs rampant in this now called city. This once normal conservative spiritual town has a bunch of people moving in with their political pushy negative neurotic attitude. There is a lot of homelessness due to the influx and despite new housing being built. People can't afford the housing at the prices that they are pushing. So its paradise for Cali people, them making money at the expense of us who have always lived here, its ruined a once stable town. There are no real jobs. The 18 to 45 year olds are lazy and don't want to work. So resteraunts or stores, the Managers at these stores have to work 100 hours a week to keep the stores from shutting down with zero days off.. Drugs are everywhere. Crime is high. It's not safe anymore in this once spiritual town. Drivers are nuts; self centered
What can I say. Cottonwood has again proved itself to be the joke of the Verde Valley, a pathetic city council who are an utter embarrassment to the residents of the city. We lived nearby and my wife worked for the city, who treated her disgracefully. My advice if you're thinking of moving to this area, don't choose Cottonwood, there is a very clear reason why it's a cheaper place to buy. It's a poorly run, hick little town that has no foresight and frankly has atrocious city management who are intimidated by anyone more educated than themselves which basically is everyone else on the planet. Do yourselves a favour and live somewhere else.
