Xavier University is a Jesuit Catholic University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1831, Xavier is the sixth-oldest Catholic and fourth-oldest Jesuit university in the United States. I really enjoy the aspects of the Center for Faith and Justice at Xavier University. I found the most inclusivity there and joined many of their programs my first year and now hold a board position for my favorite campus club through the CFJ, Alternative Breaks. However, I would like to see more community within the different ethnic and racial groups on campus, as sometimes it feels like each club for diversity separates just as much as it supports diverse identities. This can cause contention rather than harmony on club collaborations, and the student activities council does not offer a lot of events that interest students. The food is mostly only American cuisine and does not cater to the different ethnic food preferences student and faculty have. The vegetarian, vegan, or "healthy" options for dining on campus is dismal as well.
My overall experience at Xavier is fun apart from dorms and roommates. professor can be helpful sometimes and sometimes they can’t be helpful. There isn’t a lot of minority and Xavier is a mostly PWI school finding a place you belong is very difficult because many people like you don’t have the same life experience you so you’re unable to find friends. The party life there I won’t say that I know Because I never been to a party before I do at school is study campus activities are nice. There are always activities on campus every week and I like that about it and there are some resource on campus to help you. They have lab counseling resources useful when I come to navigating the stressful life of college, the food depends sometimes they’re good. Sometimes they’re bad all the time they’re good at the time they’re bad for me because I had roommates who were so loud that I couldn’t pay attention to my academic grades of that.
In my first year at Xavier, the school has taught me new things about myself. I really enjoy all the opportunities the school has to offer, for instance, all the clubs you can join, being involved within the student life, all the welcoming events the school throws throughout the year, etc. The most challenging aspect is the academics. I find it best to create a relationship with all of your professors so you have the ability to speak with them without any hesitations. Though the course work is rigorous, you still have plenty of time to live your life.
