"Here is another update to the standard GIMP builds for Windows and McGimp for OSX. A lot of work has been put into GIMP; new releases of BABL and GEGL were made and libmypaint is already at 1.3 beta. We have a new and improved version of PhotoFlow as the default RAW editor."

Python plugins don't show up on Mac...

Keeping my McGimp 2.8 until things sort themselves out

I'd agree with that...2.9 is experimental in any case.

Agree, would definitely wait but, it was sure good to see G'mic 1.7.2 for Macs with all the new working "filters".

I try out Gimp 2.9 in linux, so no idea how a Mac sorts itself out
but
The Gimp 2.9 profile is not in the usual place. In linux, say for the plug-ins, it is in home directory as

.config/GIMP/2.9/plug-ins/

A bit tedious digging into that all the time. Usual fix, a new folder ~/gimp-plugins and added using Edit -> Preference.

Maybe you could try similar in your Mac.

rich2005, thank you for your advice. I tried it all including your correct suggestions but before Gimp opens up the above error window popped up. Layerfx.py and other plugins don't show up. However, I'm conflicted though because G'mic worked perfectly and isn't that a plugin?

Ah well, worth a try.

G'mic is a compiled plugin (a binary file) not python that is the difference there.

If you are having problems with the mac version, it might be a good idea to email Partha and make him aware of the problems!

I have been using the Linux version of 2.9 and find it very stable. It is all I use now.

bilbo9955, thank you for your suggestion and I may ultimately do that but, I'll check the following first direction to check against the latest git master ( have no idea what that is but I'll google it ).

Great new build, thank you Partha!
But unfortunately PhotoFlow does not process Fuji X RAF files correctly. Anyone tried this with success?

For Mac users - I just sent Partha a short message with the error description that pops up regarding the plugins. Fingers crossed. Everything else shows up beautifully; scripts, G'MIC updated version for Mac and PhotoFlow.

With Partha's knowledge and help was able to install his latest build - McGimp 2.9 with G'MIC 1.7.4 and the collection of Nik plugins. Please note, for anyone interested that many of the plugins which worked with 2.8 are not compatible with 2.9 (for example Layerfx.py). Having said the above, I really like 2.9 enough to keep it as well as 2.8.

I am glad to hear that you got everything working! I am now only using 2.9. It works great. I did have to switch to a Linux VM under windows. That way everything updates itself easily and I don't have to wait for someone to compile for windows.

Hi Wallace - the icons are new to the build. However, the theme is not. The theme I use is called Aerolon.
