There are few franchises quite as beloved as “Halloween.” Starting in 1978 with John Carpenter’s original, audiences were introduced to the mysterious — and seemingly unkillable — Michael Myers and iconic final girl Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis).

Director David Gordon Green breathed new life into the franchise with the critically-acclaimed 2018 follow-up, simply titled “Halloween,” produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. The reboot opened to $76.2 million, the highest opening in the gruesome franchise’s history and the second largest October start on record. The film concluded with $159 million in the U.S. and $255 million internationally on a budget within the $10 million range.

Now, Green returns for the 12th installment in the series, with “Halloween Kills,” a direct sequel to Green‘s 2018 film, and the second of a planned trilogy that will conclude with “Halloween Ends.” Carpenter produced and scored the 2018 reboot. He previously told Indiewire’s Anne Thompson that “Kills” is unlike any other “Halloween” film. “The movie is something else,” Carpenter teased. “It’s fun, intense, and brutal, a slasher movie times one hundred, big time. It’s huge. I’ve never seen anything like this: the kill count!”

Written by Green, Danny McBride, and Scott Deems, “Halloween Kills” premieres October 15, 2021. As we gear up for yet another spooky Halloween spent in the horrific fictional Haddonfield suburb, find out all the details on “Halloween Kills” below. IndieWire will update the list as more information about the movie is released.
