rABAO Bilbao Opera closes its XIX ABAO Txiki season with the premiere of “Hirira.”

The opera was created by the members of the Easo Gazte Abesbatza choir, librettist Marta García, and Gorka Miranda. “Hirira” serves an invitation to observe and reflect on the places we live in, and transform them into other more sustainable, inclusive and diverse spaces and living environments.

David de Oliveira conducts the Easo Gazte Abesbatza choir, along with soloists Lorea López, Xabat Caminos, Eneritz Aizpurua, Ibai Murillo, Alain Sánchez, Iraide Urbistondo, and Nora Osma. Mafalda Saloio is the stage director.

Josu Elberdin’s musical adaptation is based on Paul Hindemith’s “Wir bauen eine Stadt.” The score includes voice, piano, clarinet, violin, and percussion.

The Arriaga Theater will host four performances from May 11 -13, 2024.
