Wheat Ridge High School Reviews
Rating 3.76 out of 5 278 reviews
Wheat Ridge High School has limited opportunities for learning about business, home economics, and other widely known electives. A changing administration over the past years has led to drawn out construction, currently there are frequent issues with air conditioning and heating causing classrooms to be unbearable. On the other side of the coin our stem program is very advanced, although I am not in it myself there are big opportunities such as designing and making sustainable vehicles and other exciting endeavors. Additionally when/if the construction on the school is finished we will have a new and improved commons area and entrance.
Bathrooms are awful with vaping. Academics are alright, though the science teachers tend to be awful and the math teachers tend to not be very good at teaching. Very good band program.
They have a very good culture. Many of the teachers are alumni and live by the motto, “once a farmer always a farmer”. They are dedicated to seeing students as a whole person and catering their teaching to the individuals needs. The administration does similarly, and know that students respect them because of their respect for the students, so they do a good job of getting to know the students in a way that helps them feel heard, and respect the admin back. Each aspect of the school is similar. While most of the education is great, some areas lack excellence and the teachers struggle to help freshman through biology. They have great sports and team culture, but the football team struggles to win many games. Additionally, the STEM and GT departments are big benefits for the school and both encourage students to be their best and find their passions.
