SM Entertainment will launch a new girl group in the fourth quarter (October-December) of this year.
According to SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as 'SM') on the 8th, SM recorded consolidated sales of KRW 220.1 billion, operating profit of KRW 15.5 billion, and net profit of KRW 12.4 billion in the first quarter of this year.
Sales increased by 7.9% this year. Increased performance size and rising MD sales drove sales growth. Sales of major affiliates also increased as advertising and drama production sales increased. Operating profit decreased slightly due to the increase in the number of people and the initial operating cost of new subsidiaries due to the establishment of a multi-production system introduced in the second quarter of last year.
On a separate basis, it recorded 136.1 billion won in sales and 20.1 billion won in operating profit in the first quarter, up 6.2% and 3.3%, respectively, from the same period last year. Net income is around 16.6 billion won. Sales in the MD and licensing sectors increased, reflecting the progress of large-scale concerts and the sales of greetings for the previous season.
