      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Santa Clauses is a bit ho ho ho-hum as a continuation of the holiday franchise, but it's hardly a lump of coal thanks to Tim Allen's spirited return as Father Christmas, along with a dash of yuletide nostalgia.

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Rather bundt-cake-bland series... might blossom into something special. Rated: 2/4 Nov 16, 2022 Full Review Lauren Piester TheWrap There are clearly more stories to tell in this version of the North Pole, but if this is where the whole franchise ends, it’s a really nice way to go. Nov 16, 2022 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com The Santa Clauses doesn’t bother trying to reinvent the sleigh, but it does splash a new coat of paint on it, in mostly agreeable and mildly clever ways. Nov 16, 2022 Full Review Erin Maxwell LA Weekly/Village Voice The Santa Clauses might conjure joy for viewers with fond memories of the original franchise, however, it probably won’t make any new fans, but old ones will find it as comforting as a cup of warm cocoa. Dec 24, 2022 Full Review Bruce R. Miller Sioux City Journal The latest iteration may not be as snarky as earlier ones, but there's plenty of fun to ensure this isn't going to be a "lump of coal" year. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 16, 2022 Full Review James Field Pajiba The show rushes through some moments and drags through others. The laughs are few and far between, and Allen’s fake beard is frankly terrifying. Nov 29, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Delia Absolutely loved it. Surprising and nostalgic at the same time. Really funny and a true delight to watch, even as an adult. All the jokes are excellent. It is self-aware and fun. For example, while Scott is packing his clothing for the human world, he comes across a sweater knitted with the message "Sit on my lap and tell me what you want". He says "oh I don't think this is okay anymore" and his wife responds "honey I don't think it was ever okay". There's dozens more little fun bits like that. Also I love the lore! The world of the North Pole, the story behind Santa, the schema of the magic itself is so well done and fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it embraces a sense of mystery and wonder, it is realistically magical because it doesn't tie everything up neatly and it is full of marvelous curiousities and surprises. Like the Christmas memories snow globe room or the magical mailroom that allows letters to Santa to make it to the North Pole. The relationships between the elves, the acting and the costumes are all excellent. I could go on and on. There's so much more to explore and I hope they keep making this show! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Tim S Started promising and went directly down hill. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review SkyRo P Not quite sure why people feel like this is not a great show, well it's not the general public. It's the critics. I think Tim Allen does a phenomenal job, re-creating the legend of Santa Claus and they use the legendary figures extremely well, I love the fact that the family is here and they're building off of the family I think this is an incredible show that has a lot of potential to even be greater, if written and done well, and people should definitely give it every chance they good, I highly recommend checking out the show Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Raven M Entertaining and enjoyable and a good cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Landon M This show brought me back to my childhood. I am glad it was renewed for a season 2. After that finale, it left me wanting to see what happened next with their story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Eric B I don't know why Disney insist on insulting all of the men watching anything they make the last few years. Women are all powerful and the men are idiots, why can't both be normal? The same goes with this show, as all the others. I don't know who gives this order, if it's the Disney CEOs, the Blackrock people or people even higher then that. Anyway, the writers on this show is going my naughty list of writers I will never watch anything from ever again. This is a new age where I'm not watching who directed as much as I'm watching who wrote the show/movie. I'm just tired of all the hate from Disney. Just don't get it. All it will do is make people hate Disney, and kids will be brainwashed to believe all men are idiots and/or evil. Don't expose your kids to this. For the time being, it's best not to show them anything from Disney. Except the old stuff, from 10 years or more ago. That stuff is still great.
