      Critics Consensus

The Twilight Zone's sophomore season shines when it dares to be bold, but long runtimes and predictable plotting hold it back from reaching its full potential.

Ellen E Jones Guardian Ultimately, this Twilight Zone suffers by comparison, because there is just so much to compare it with - Serling's still peerless original, Jordan Peele's movies, other sci-fi anthology series such as Black Mirror and now TZ's own first season. Rated: 3/5 Nov 4, 2020 Full Review Noel Murray AV Club It's an encouraging sign that The Twilight Zone's second season begins with an episode that's relatively simple, and highly watchable. Rated: B Jun 26, 2020 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday Still a decent reboot, but far too timid. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 26, 2020 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street If you didn't like the first season, it's understandable to be hesitant about giving the show another try. But, even without expectations accurately shifted, these ten episodes are collectively more palatable. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Valerie Ettenhofer Film School Rejects As with most anthology series, the results are decidedly mixed. For one thing, the show does away with its social justice bent entirely at a time in which those stories would be most welcome. Apr 19, 2021 Full Review Gavia Baker-Whitelaw The Daily Dot Season 2 is satisfyingly spooky and twisted, with a wry sense of humor. Rated: 4/5 Aug 5, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Jo K Misses the mark with the hard hitting, mostly downtrodden, endings from the original series. Too sanitized. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/16/23 Full Review james g Season 2 does have the great tenth episode, "You Might Also Like": everyone MUST possess a strange 'egg', even if it's not a good idea at all, because everyone else wants one also. It's not that the other episodes are bad, it's that they are not outstanding. Season 1 also had just one great episode (in which a mom drives her son to college, I think called "Replay"). My understanding is there will be no Season 3, and I wish the show had continued: it's interesting how Peele communicates how he sees the world. Also, I like how some S2 episodes (like "Ovation" ) adds another layer to some S1 stories. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review brent g Not bad. A good effort for Twilight Zone fans in order to build on to past episodes. A couple I really like and a few that are a little more than just worth watching. The strong point is probably that Twilight Zone continues to originate plots instead of copying others' ideas, just as so many of the very first series did (we all saw how a plot would be shown for the first time on a Twilight Zone episode, then somebody would almost copy the idea for some other movie or other series). Original and fresh ideas are a big plus now days that imagination seems to be in short supply. As others have alluded, suspension of belief is slightly problematic. It's easier to suspend belief when there's a clear moral to a story, though, and the morals here are far less clear. Featuring the greatest final 10 episodes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review johann m Season 2!!! Phenomenal! Once again with the incarnation of the classic anthology series featuring various tales of science fiction, mystery, and horror, now adapted to modern times and narrated by horror genius Jordan Peele. This season also includes episodes with bizarre incidents, supernatural occurrences, alien invasions, psychic abilities, killer octopuses, magic town models, time-loops, all ending with unexpected and surprising twists that will leave the viewer speechless. They are not as good as the first season's, but they are acceptable.
