Wanted to swim and snorkel. Snorkelling didn’t impress, lots of dead coral, minimal fish. Sad to see but guess that is down to the sheer number of visitors allowed and pollution. Reminded me of Maya Bay ( The Beach ) near Phi Phi that closed to tourism for a few years to try and regenerate. I was caught in a VERY STRONG current on the sandbar, the tide was going out extremely fast and took me with it, I was way off shore in under a minute. Saw no signage warning of the dangers, no information given from tour guides on the island or enroute. Please, if you are not a strong swimmer or even if you are, wear a life jacket. I didn’t and tried for ages to get back to shore against this current, i was totally exhausted. I panicked as wasn’t sure how to get back. Saw no life guards paying attention, eventually my husband saw me and tried to make his way to me. I then decided to try and swim “across” the current rather than into it as you should a rip tide and did make it safely back to shore. They seem very keen to just take money on this island without much regard for people’s safety. Go, enjoy but please just be aware of the possible dangers. The tides / currents move extremely fast.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 18, 2023
- SandraDChristchurch, New Zealand146 contributionsDisspointing but good snorkelingThe island itself is beautiful but we were very disappointed that we saw so much rubbish on parts of this tiny island. You pay 250 bhat to go onto the island, and they take your plastic water bottles away but on the sand there is still plastic, rope and some glass, and they give you straws at the restaurant. We felt that with the fee, they could have people picking up the litter to keep this place beautiful. Good snorkling.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 22, 2023
- M FBarcelona, Spain10 contributionsBeautiful, relaxing and nice for snorkelling! The island is beautiful, a real pearl, a sure to do experience in the checklist of things to do in Koh Tao. Less than 15 min from the main island with the boat. Of course it’s a touristic island destination but is the perfect place where to spend 2-3 hours.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 23, 2023
- LinziB70Jakarta, Indonesia12 contributionsJust okFabulous viewpoint for the famous photo. Lovely beach linking islands, very unique. Snorkeling just ok, most coral was dead due to a huge storm. So many tourists and we went at high tide so waded thigh deep accross the beach so be aware of this. Also, boats did not go to the island if you started later that 10am so be aware of your tour or what time you plan to visit. Ask around first. Too many people and a long queue to the photopoints.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 18, 2024
- vincenttL7931BE22 contributionsNeeds protectionIt’s a shame to many visitors allowed, of course I realise I’m one! The view point was a continuous snake of tourists, so many in fact some on our tour had to turn back! The beach although beautiful is becoming an ecological disaster! Trampled Corel, disgusting lack of respect from the people who visit. Leaving discarded food and drink detritus where they sat, conch shells overflowing with spliff and fag butts. I hope the owners take steps to protect this natural environment and be a little less motivated by money.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 15, 2024
- LucasmaxDevizes, United Kingdom26 contributionsDo your research to avoid the crowdsHaving read various websites stating they let you on the island before 10am. I can confirm they do not! I organised a long tail from Sairee Beach leaving at 09:00 with the hope of getting to the viewpoint without the hoards. Arrived on the island at 09:20 to be told I had to wait until 10:00 to enter the island. Thankfully I was allowed to stand by the payment counter in the shade as 40 minutes stood on the pier would have finished me off. At 09:45 the large Lomprayah ferry arrived and all of the people disembarked to walk straight through the ticket point and onto the island. When I asked the attendant on the ticket desk, I was told they are part of a prearranged tour and are allowed on early. As soon as the time reached 10:00 to the second I was allowed onto the island. I went straight to the viewpoint and thankfully I didn’t pass anyone walking up and I had around 10 minutes on my own before people started to appear. My advice to anyone making their way by long tail boat is to arrive at around 09:35 and wait it out. When allowed in, head straight up to the viewpoint to take your pictures then you may miss the crowds. Just to note. The signs on the island all say it closes at 15:00 (instead of 17:00 that I saw online) just to bear in mind if going in the afternoon.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 2, 2024

Paid 250baht for a return taxi boat ride over.
It was windy and very choppy waves.
Paid 100baht to the arrival man who demanded we took off water shoes, but allowed trainers and other footwear past! Also took plastic bottles from you too.
The climb up to the viewpoint was easy enough, stone steps, and a few larger boulders at the top.
Views were great. Some nice photos too!
The only bar there sold glass bottles drinks. They ran out of a few drinks.
It looks like they will be extending behind the bar area.
There are lockers you can rent. And a few sun loungers, no umbrellas though.
Because the water was choppy we didn't snorkel much, but was told you could literally swim round the island.
We went at 2.30pm and caught the last boat back at 5pm. I'd recomend leaving slightly before 5pm, yes its beautiful without the crowds, but counting the people on the jetty hoping you get on a boat and not left behind was not fun!

Definitely check it out while on Koh Tao - a quick daytrip and the beach is beautiful. Just make sure to go early, especially if you want to check out the viewpoint. Tour boats start rolling in around 10 am, and it gets fairly crowded.

Long tailboat was 500bht return, its 100bht to enter the island but you cant take any plastic in so you have to leave bottles of water.
The viewpoint has a bit of a steep climb & quite a difficult climb up onto the rocks, definitely not one for someone with mobility issues. When up there it is absolutely STUNNING, its very busy though & its only a small space so be prepared to get up the top & get some pics.
The actual island is very pretty, lovely views. The water is crystal clear

Really cool place for a couple hours if your staying in koh tao food is obviously going to be a bit more pricey on the island once your there. The view point is breathtaking but you need to wait once you get to the top to take your photos.. you be able to just sit up there and enjoy it since it’s really hot and everybody is waiting l. Bring some snorkel gear to see the under water gardens it’s beautiful a bit off the island just swim towards the scuba boats parked on the opposite side of the pier where you arrive. I took a kayak from sairee it was quick and easy cost 500 for 2 people for 4 hours need to bargain with the guy a bit.

This cute little island near Tao, is literally little piece of heaven. Crystal clear water and white soft sand are magical.
We did some snorkeling on our own, and saw amazing amount of different kind of tropical fishes. Fins arent allowed but you can use sandals or flipflops while snorkeling for example. There are lots of sharp corals on the water wich might cause cuts.
Plastic bottles are also forbidden, you cant take them there. But there is a restaurant where u can buy water and other drinks, and they are not too expensive.
We went there around 2-2.30pm and that was the perfect timing. All those big boats from other islands left and literally there was one person sunbathing with us for the rest of our time. Island is closing from public at 5pm. So I would say that the 2,5-3 hours was perfect. Had time to snorkel in peace, sunbathing and also climb up to the marvelous viewpoint! There were just four people at the same time, so no need to wait for a selfie.
There is 100b charge you have to pay for enter the island. You can easily get there by longtail boat from the sairee beach Koh Tao.
If you visiting Koh Tao, this is definitely the must visit place!!!

Nature here is absolutely stunning with white coral beaches and turquoise water. Probably one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the sun and the beach and snorkeling in Koh Tao area. Please note that you are not allowed to use beach towels on the sand or fins or swimming shoes. This is to protect the beach and corals and all visitors should respect these rules. As of JAN 2022 the entry fee is 200 baht per person.
Due to Covid there weren’t too many tourists when we visited, but I can imagine the place being excessively crowded in “normal” times. Could be a good idea to go first thing in the morning when it’s not so busy.
There’s also a cool view point on top of the hill (see pics). Climb takes only around 10 minutes and is doable also with elderly people and little children.
Definitely worth a visit!

my experience visiting nang yuan island was way worst than I expected. Too much people around, they dont allow you to enter anything to dring or eat, and you have to buy everythin from them, at super expensive prices. NOT recommended

We had a lovely afternoon there and the coral is beautiful.
We were told we were lucky to be there with it so quiet due to absence of Chines tourists at this time. We thought it was busy, but apparently much less so than usual.
Thai food in the restaurant was ok, but western food at snack bar and restaurant looked awful.
We read about rude staff but we found everyone friendly and polite.

Pulling up on your boat, its clearly absolutely stunning however, once you arrive, you can see that the whole place has been ruined by pure greed. It
First of all, as a foreigner, you are charged more to 'get onto' the island. Thai's pay less. As you walk onto the island, you see signs everywhere regarding plastic, no straws, no bottles etc however, look down between the rocks and you see large amounts of plastic that has clearly been disposed of from the island's café into the ocean.
The staff in the cafe/bar area were incredibly rude. The usual, happy Thai smiles were non existent. The baby in our travel group accidently pushed a glass bottle onto the floor and it smashed, the staff made us pay 400bht for the broken bottle whilst they watched us clear up the bottle with our hands.
You have to pay for the sunbeds on the beach despite paying an initial fee to get onto the island.
The sea is murky, full of disposed bottles and you are surrounded by dead coral.
The sea has thousands of jellyfish and salp in it and unfortunately, my four year old suffered a bad sting from either the jellyfish or the plankton in the salp. Staff were alerted and we were sent to reception to seek medical advice. The staff member practically threw vinegar on the sting which obviously caused a hell of a lot of pain and caused by little boy to cry uncontrollably. The staff member (a Thai lady) didn't understand why he was crying so much and started shouting and swearing at him, the whole scenario was dealt with in a terrible manner. The staff member was shouting to myself and my son and telling us to F*** off and shouting to other staff to tell them not to help my son. All whilst his stings were swelling up and causing agonising pain. Eventually, I managed to track down a lovely Thai man who dealt with the situation in a calm and professional manner, he gave us further information on what to do next. As we were leaving island, the other staff member continued to swear and spit at us.
I have since found out that the awful staff member is actually a tour guide on the island. Please, if you are visiting the island and you have this women as your guide, be careful as she quite clearly has serious issues, she may have been drunk or on drugs and you are not safe around her at all. Especially if you have children.

It’s an amazing place if you look for clear, turquoise water. The beach is clean, the water it’s completely cristal clear and you can even see fishes around. I got the chance to see how group of fishes passed from one side to the other taking advantage of a wave.
You can arrive here from Mae Had in Koh Tao by taxi boat for 400 thb one way one person.

During which time of the day the lookout point will be less crowded? What is the opening time for this island?

go first think in morning. We left Koh Tao at 8:30am for 9am opening and they let people in early anyways. Do the lookout point first thing, going to the left. It gets crowded up there later. Do shots then relax on the beach and snorkel and chill. The people from Koh Samui flood the island around 10am - but only stay for few hrs. Last group is probably early afternoon.

Hi, is the weather tomorrow allowing to go to the tour in the islands?
If yes, is it recommended to do scuba diving as it’s kind if waves and dark out there..
Wij zijn van plan deze 2 eilanden te bezoeken.welke boot kunnen wij het beste nemen aangezien ik een overgeef fobie heb en dus de minste kans wil om zeeziekte te krijgen/ zien / horen ☺️

About 150 each way. You might be able to get it cheaper if you go with a few more people. But they are pretty set on their prices. No harm in trying though
