Came over on boat trip for the day from Koh Samui. Very pretty little island although we did not venture to viewpoint. Wanted to swim and snorkel. Snorkelling didn’t impress, lots of dead coral, minimal fish. Sad to see but guess that is down to the sheer number of visitors allowed and pollution. Reminded me of Maya Bay ( The Beach ) near Phi Phi that closed to tourism for a few years to try and regenerate. I was caught in a VERY STRONG current on the sandbar, the tide was going out extremely fast and took me with it, I was way off shore in under a minute. Saw no signage warning of the dangers, no information given from tour guides on the island or enroute. Please, if you are not a strong swimmer or even if you are, wear a life jacket. I didn’t and tried for ages to get back to shore against this current, i was totally exhausted. I panicked as wasn’t sure how to get back. Saw no life guards paying attention, eventually my husband saw me and tried to make his way to me. I then decided to try and swim “across” the current rather than into it as you should a rip tide and did make it safely back to shore. They seem very keen to just take money on this island without much regard for people’s safety. Go, enjoy but please just be aware of the possible dangers. The tides / currents move extremely fast.

The island itself is beautiful but we were very disappointed that we saw so much rubbish on parts of this tiny island. You pay 250 bhat to go onto the island, and they take your plastic water bottles away but on the sand there is still plastic, rope and some glass, and they give you straws at the restaurant. We felt that with the fee, they could have people picking up the litter to keep this place beautiful. Good snorkling.

The island is beautiful, a real pearl, a sure to do experience in the checklist of things to do in Koh Tao. Less than 15 min from the main island with the boat. Of course it’s a touristic island destination but is the perfect place where to spend 2-3 hours.

Fabulous viewpoint for the famous photo. Lovely beach linking islands, very unique. Snorkeling just ok, most coral was dead due to a huge storm. So many tourists and we went at high tide so waded thigh deep accross the beach so be aware of this. Also, boats did not go to the island if you started later that 10am so be aware of your tour or what time you plan to visit. Ask around first. Too many people and a long queue to the photopoints.

It’s a shame to many visitors allowed, of course I realise I’m one! The view point was a continuous snake of tourists, so many in fact some on our tour had to turn back! The beach although beautiful is becoming an ecological disaster! Trampled Corel, disgusting lack of respect from the people who visit. Leaving discarded food and drink detritus where they sat, conch shells overflowing with spliff and fag butts. I hope the owners take steps to protect this natural environment and be a little less motivated by money.

Having read various websites stating they let you on the island before 10am. I can confirm they do not! I organised a long tail from Sairee Beach leaving at 09:00 with the hope of getting to the viewpoint without the hoards. Arrived on the island at 09:20 to be told I had to wait until 10:00 to enter the island. Thankfully I was allowed to stand by the payment counter in the shade as 40 minutes stood on the pier would have finished me off. At 09:45 the large Lomprayah ferry arrived and all of the people disembarked to walk straight through the ticket point and onto the island. When I asked the attendant on the ticket desk, I was told they are part of a prearranged tour and are allowed on early. As soon as the time reached 10:00 to the second I was allowed onto the island. I went straight to the viewpoint and thankfully I didn’t pass anyone walking up and I had around 10 minutes on my own before people started to appear. My advice to anyone making their way by long tail boat is to arrive at around 09:35 and wait it out. When allowed in, head straight up to the viewpoint to take your pictures then you may miss the crowds. Just to note. The signs on the island all say it closes at 15:00 (instead of 17:00 that I saw online) just to bear in mind if going in the afternoon.
