HIGHLIGHTS

Operation Santa Claus 2024 is now inviting funding applications. The annual charity fundraising drive, jointly organised by Radio Television Hong Kong and the South China Morning Post, is looking forward, once again, to supporting a number of worthy causes. So far, Operation Santa Claus has raised more than 383 million Hong Kong Dollars, for over 353 wonderful, life changing charity projects.

If you are a Hong Kong registered NGO, and you think Operation Santa Claus might be able to help you realise a great project to make somebody's dream a reality, then visit our website here for all the details.

The application deadline is Monday July the 17th at midday.

The Chief Executive, John Lee, delivered his 2023 policy address last October. It covered many areas of society that he sought to improve, enhance, or change. In this new series, with the help of several senior government officials, Dr. Eugene Chan will take stock of the visible results so far, while getting some of the personal views and aspirations of his guests.

This week, Eugene's guest is the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak.

Saturday mornings - 8.30 to 9 - only on Radio 3

On Thursday’s Money Talk, Steven Filby will be joined by Enzio von Pfeil, a capital preservation specialist at Financial Shield, and Ben Emons, Chief Investment Officer and Founder of Fed Watch Advisors to talk markets

In Your Money, Carolyn Wright will be speaking with Greg Van, who is CEO of Endowus, on the key concerns high net worth investors have about making their money work and what they mean for all of us

And we’ll be getting a View from the US with Barry Wood, RTHK’s International Economics Correspondent.

Also, if you have any questions for our guests, you can Whatsapp us on 6899 8518 for a real-time answer.

Every weekday afternoon from 12 until 2... Only on Radio 3

In the first part of Thursday's Backchat, we're talking about authorities' plans to expand sexual conviction record checks to include the self-employed and volunteers.

Employers will soon be able to know whether tutors and coaches they hire had sexual convictions in the past under new rules set to take place at the end of this year. The scheme will also be expanded to volunteers who have regular contact with children and the mentally disabled starting next year.

Under the arrangement, parents and guardians will be regarded as employers, meaning that they will be able to access the sexual conviction records of the tutors or caretakers they hire.

Can this move help reduce sexual assault cases? And should other convictions be made available?

After 9:30, we'll be looking into the "low altitude economy" as some some industry representatives hope to amend existing regulations to allow the use of drones for commercial purposes.
