Library: The university has a proud library system which includes Central Library, Salt Lake Campus Library, around 36 departmental libraries and a total number of 23 libraries which are attached with Schools & Centers under the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Law & Management. The central library is equipped well with a monstrous stock of resources. The library has an internet connection so that students can avail e-resources too. The central library of Jadavpur University comprises a number of 6198 books, 11762 journals, 24 resource databases, 2 talking books and 13742 question papers.

Hostel: The university provides accommodation facilities for both boys & girls. A total number of 13 hostels are there at the campus premises, 4 for girls & 9 for boys hostels with provision for accommodating over 1600 students. There is an exclusive hostel for research scholars. All the amenities of the hostel come at a feasible price which is INR 3,000.

Guest House: Jadavpur University has a guest house with 90 double bedrooms, 3 deluxe rooms, 2 single rooms, with all the required maintenance.

Health Center: The University Health Centre is located on the campus. It is attended by a full-time Medical Superintendent and part-time qualified Specialists in General Medicine, Eye, E.N.T., Skin, Dental and Pathology and a part-time Lady Doctor. All the specialists visit the health center for two hours for three days a week and the Lady Doctor attends the center on all working days for three hours a day. The campus is very beautiful, teachers are well qualified and very friendly, the seniors and batchmates are very helpful.
The placement process is very transparent. The fees of the course is very less which is beneficial.

Dislikes

The funding to the university is not sufficient to maintain such a huge infrastructure.

Admission:

The application process is easy not very complex. One needs to rank within 2500 in the WBJEE to get chance in the department of food technology and biochemical engineering. There is no other way to get admission in engineering without giving WBJEE

Infrastructure is really poor compare to other tier 1 University colleges
Bathrooms were not good at all specially the gents bathrooms

The Eligibility it was 12 th PCM for WBJEE and Diploma in any Subject for WBJELET There was 3 entrance exam for entering into the Engineering curriculum in the university 1.WBJEE for the 12 th science students 2. WBJELET for the Diploma Candidates 3. And there was another university entrance exam for entering into the 5 years evening engineering course which was also for the Diploma Candidates

Campus Life is so chill. If you are not in class, none can interrupt you to enojoy in campus.
Student driven placement helps students to have transparent idea of placement conpanies, packages and the whole process.

Dislikes

Infrastructure of classroom is a thing to worry. You will not be getting a premium feeling in classroom
Sometimes student politics in campus make life little bit hard for students. (Not all the time, and also sometimes it helps students)

Admission:

Have to crack wbjee. Reservation are there in every course as per govt rules. Cut off you can find in internet. You should prepeare for wbjee from your 11th class because the syllabus of exam demands 11 and 12 together.

This is Bestest University among West Bengal and top 5 among India . You can get admission in Engineering via WBJEE entrance , which cutoff goes arround 6000 rank among 90,000 students . Home state quota valid here . There are 10% seats are for other States for engineering .

The best thing which I liked is the campus life the lush green 51 acre campus full of scenic beauties and serenity.
The curriculum is nice everyday all the classes are held with proper routine

Dislikes

The thing which I disliked is the level of difficulty in our syllabus..It's a bit tough.
The semester gaps are way too short and we don't get enough time in 1st and 2nd years

Admission:

Eligibility for engineering is having maths physics chemistry in +2 with 60% marks in aggregate in these subjects and we have to clear wbjee exam with a good rank and there's reservation benefits too for sc,st,obc,pwd,tfw etc..

High Return on Investment in the Engineering Branch specially in circuital branch like CSE, IT, IEE, ECE AND EE
The classes are divided in subsections which enhances the student teacher interaction process.

Dislikes

The infrastructure is a bit old and proper funding is not granted by the State government
A bit of student politics which divert some students although all those involved in student politics are not bad

The admission is through WBJEE which consists of 100 questions from Mathematics and 100 questions from Physics and Chemistry combined. For general candidates he should achieve a rank of below 1000 for mechanical engineering dept

Having studied in one of the most reputed and expensive schools in Kolkata, I'd say infrastructure-wise I was worried that it would be difficult for me to adapt. Yet, this university made me feel like I was a part of it no matter what background
One of the key features of this university is the freedom given to its students. We're allowed to postpone/cancel classes with the teachers' permission in case we feel the need to consider the problems/absence of fellow classmates in those classes

Dislikes

Sometimes, the freedom given to students are used for the idea of promoting one's own self interests rather than the whole batch's. Even then, we have a lot of students working towards helping the batch as a whole in a wholesome way
The classrooms are not very clean. Once we had to take a test in a room which probably wasn't used or cleaned in months. It was all dusted and filled with cobwebs. This too can be taken care of with students' initiatives

Admission:

criteria for enrolling into the university is to secure a good enough rank in the wbjee exam and participate in the counselling process using the wbjee official website. Every part of the counselling process is informed via sms and in the wbjee website portal. After having completed the first 2 rounds of counselling, the process is extremely smooth. The counselling dates vary every year, but mainly take place between June-september.marks that need to be obtained by a student based on their reservation categories are GEN>OBC-B>SC>OBC-A>ST (For pwd and ews, kindly refer to the wbjee orcr). I secured a general rank of 5021 and an obc-A rank of 178 with 53.334 marks in the wbjee exam. But during the counselling process, only the general rank is taken into consideration. The category rank helps divide students into the different courses keeping up with the law stating minimum percentage of students from each category. Wbjee exam is easy if you've studied for your school level exam.

I mostly like about the university campus is massive and truly so serene
There's a massive open air theatre in the campus where most of the festives conduct

Dislikes

The capacity of the classroom it's big but 100 students cannot accommodate that well
The campus is so massive that it takes quite the time to get to one of entry gates by walk

Admission:

So I got in through WB jelet examination for the lateral entry for this course of mine and I have ranked 10 in ur and 3rd in sc category. So got admitted through the SC rank card. The level of difficulty was quite moderate but you have to prepare yourself for the exam. This exam conducts once a year giving all the Diploma holders a chance to pursue their bachelor in government and all the well known private colleges.

We've a large number of faculties who have specialisation in almost all disciplines of physics, hence the opportunities for research is sufficient
The campus life and social environment is liberal enough

Dislikes

The infrastructure is not good at all, classroom and toilets are not well maintained
Punctuality and professionalism is severely lacking among officials of the university administration.

Admission:

The online application process typically starts in the month of June following the publication of results of West Bengal state board. A minimum average score of 75% is required in physics, chemistry and maths in (10+2) level to apply for BSc physics for unreserved candidates, this criteria is lowered for reserved categories. The admissions are merit based. Post pandemic, an admission test of 50 marks is being taken in MCQ format according to syllabus of wbchse. 50% weightage is given to the admission test and the rest to the board marks. The reservation of seats are in accordance with state government rule. The whole counseling and admission process is held offline, failing to appear in the said date would lead to cancellation of application.
