Spring Moon Celebrates Hong Kong’s Annual Dragon Boat Festival With A Collection Of Four Premium Dumplings

A thrilling spectacle with origins stretching back more than 2,000 years, Hong Kong’s annual Dragon Boat Festival draws visitors from all over the globe and holds a particularly special place in Chinese culture. To celebrate, The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, Spring Moon, has unveiled a series of special rice dumplings, available in four indulgent flavours.


The Premium Glutinous Rice Dumplings (priced at HK$ 648 each) burst with flavour thanks to the unique way in which they are prepared. Unlike the traditional cooking method, these dumplings are simmered in a broth using a secret recipe, while the glutinous rice is pre-seasoned with abalone sauce to give it a fuller flavour. In addition to 30-head dried abalone from the Middle East and pieces of diced fresh abalone, the Premium Glutinous Rice Dumplings also feature carefully selected luxury ingredients. While the Deluxe Glutinous Rice Dumplings (HK$ 348 each) are also available for selection.


Presented in pairs are the Lotus Seed Paste Glutinous Rice Dumplings and the Red Date Paste and Lychee Glutinous Rice Dumplings (HK$ 288 per box, featuring one of each flavour). The lychee variation is a bold creation by Spring Moon’s Dim Sum Chef, Cheuk Ka Ching. Offering a refreshing take on a traditional delicacy, these dumplings are inspired by lychee red date soup, an ancient recipe that, according to Chinese medicine, nourishes the circulations. The lychee is also chosen because the flavour of the fruit remains strong even after intense boiling and can be easily infused into glutinous rice.


All of the dumplings described above are housed in boxes decorated with timeless Peninsula designs. By encapsulating The Peninsula’s rich history, the boxes of rice dumplings make perfect gifts as well as items with which to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.


Orders will be taken between 1 May and 7 June 2019, with the dumplings ready for collection from 25 May to 7 June 2019 at Spring Moon. Guests purchasing 10 to 49 dumplings are entitled to a 10% discount, while a 15% discount is applied to orders of 50 or more.
