Review

STARRED REVIEW A well-constructed plot, credible characters, and an insightful exploration of the grieving process make for an absorbing read. (May) --Publishers Weekly

TOP PICK! With a fresh, sophisticated plot, snappy dialogue, cleverly placed red herrings and a brisk pace, there's not a single sentence in this novel that isn't thoroughly enjoyable. --RT Book Reviews

Fascinating characters, multi-faceted story lines, and plenty of action.. Missing Persons is an entertaining read that pulls readers in from the first. --Midwest Book Review

What makes O'Donohue's writing so compulsively readable is how realistically she draws her main characters. --Bookloons

I can't recommend Missing Persons enough! --Fresh Fiction

From the Author

I used the reality (good and bad) of my years as a television producer to create Kate Conway. I wanted her to have bills to pay, in-laws to deal with, and friends she can't always count on. With just enough humor to keep her sane. Kate isn't perfect, but she isn't as tough as she pretends to be. She'd lie in a heartbeat, but she'd feel bad about hurting a friend. She still loves her late husband, still hates him, still misses him - and can't seem to get five minutes to herself to figure it out.

Once I had the idea I wrote the first draft in ten weeks. Kate and the other characters seemed so alive and the story poured out of me - often I'd get up at three in the morning because a scene had grabbed hold and wouldn't let go until I'd written it.

I don't always like Kate, or agree with her choices, but I admire her grit, her reluctant determination, and her willingness to help someone even though what she really wants is to sit on her couch and eat take-out.

I love this book, and I hope you will too.

I would give this novel 3 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to fans of contemporary fiction.
Kate Conway is going through a divorce when her husband dies unexpectedly. When the police investigate, they believe Kate may have had something to do with it. To add to the stress, her ex-husband’s new girlfriend seems to want to become friends. After the funeral, Kate lands a new job for a television show called Missing Persons. It’s a nice distraction. Theresa Moretti has been missing for a year. All she needs is 22 minutes of footage for the show, but when her case seems to intersect with Kate’s husband’s death. Kate feels rushed to finish the job before there is another body, her own. This was an interesting little read though I found it to be more of a contemporary novel than a mystery. This novel is marketed as a mystery, and there are two separate mysteries but in my honest opinion it was more about the life of Kate Conway as she deals with her career and the death of her husband.I liked this novel but I would have preferred more of a mystery as that is what I was expecting. The character of Kate Conway is well constructed, though I had an extremely hard time relating to her. I believe that is because we have next to nothing in common. The settings are fairly simple and yet easy to follow and picture in your mind. All in all, it was a decent read, though lacking on the mystery. I would give this novel 3 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to fans of contemporary fiction.I bought my copy of this novel from my local Dollar Tree and the picture featured above is my own.stephanietiner.weebly.com
