Chris W. Dickens, 96 of Amarillo died August 4, 2015.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Greg Palmer, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Chris was born on June 11, 1919 in Pine Knob, West Virginia to Elias and Dora Dickens.
He met Carrie Wills at a young age and told her he was going to marry her. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he returned and they were married in 1946 in Lashmeet, West Virginia. They were married for 62 years.
When he was young he was a coal miner in West Virginia and then worked for 27 years for Ford Motor Company in Brook Park, Ohio. He retired in 1984 and they moved to Amarillo.
He enjoyed reading his bible, planting trees and watching western movies.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie; a son, William Chris Dickens, Jr.; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
He is survived by his daughters Marka Schrader and Mary Jane Dickens – both of Amarillo; Jan Johnson and husband, Ken of Portland, Texas; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother-in-law Dallas Wills and wife, Edna; and nieces, Nancy Wills, Deanna Farris and husband Glenn.
