My friend and I chose this restaurant having scounted the area looking for an upbeat restaurant on 14th street that offered space. The host went out of his way to find us a table that suited our needs. We were then attended to by three...waiters who were all friendly and upbeat. The food was excellent! When the waiter mistakenly ordered and brought an incorrect dish, he immediately apologed and offered to make ammends. We chose to keep the dish as it looked so appealing. ( shank of lamb). When we received our bill, the cost of that dish was removed totally $32). Later when I checked my bill online, they had also removed the tip. I am so impressed that they took control of situation and fixed it! The rest of the dishes were simply delicious. Aside from a couple of tapas, I ordered the half chicken entree - Wow! I have never had just a great tasting piece of chicken - it's a must! I would return in a heartbeat!More

Second time I have been here and it was just as delightful as the first time. Reservation at 8:30, seated at 9. But the vibe in the restaurant is cozy, warm and comforting (folks don't want to leave. The drinks and food just keep coming,...and the next bite just keeps getting better. Be kind and watch out for the servers coming thru the main aisle, they have to wade thru a sea of people. Our waiter was Philip, and the rest of his team were all kind, efficient and helpful. I will eat here every time I go to DC.More

You better know where you are going to be able to end up here — the name is nowhere on the outside of the building (or even inside). Also, plan ahead and reserve a parking spot, as finding one by going through the narrow side...streets may be frustrating and tedious. No valet parking either. Now that I got the challenges off my chest, i felt that Barcelona is a great place to spend an hour to grab a drink and food or three hours catching up with friends and/or family. The wine and the small plates selection is impressive. In addition, they have an impressive collection of European wine by the bottle and libations of your choice and wish from the efficient bar. We strongly recommend the wine trio pairings matched with the food items. Among the plates we took (pardon my forgetting their names), each was excellent and I would have them next time also — eggplant, cauliflower, goat cheese and pear, spinach, meatballs, … And then there was the unique burned bourbon topped cheesecake. Next time I have to check out the other plates and desserts! Loved the casual yet attentive environment, with all the time to eat, drink and be merry. Strongly recommend this place for a special evening with special people.More

We had reservation, but still had to wait for a table for 40 min (it was Friday evening and we wanted to eat only outdoors), BUT when we finally were at the table everything went great! Manager came over, apologized and ordered couple signature dishes...for us on the house. Waiters was completely polite and helpful, food was delicious and cocktails too (especially rose wine sangria)! Atmosphere was magical and often played music I like. Definitely will go back again next time we’re in DC.More

We were visiting DC on the weekend as the city began to shut down in response to Covid19. We arrived before 5:00 and were immediately seated. We noted that very soon the bar and dining area filled up and people were left standing waiting on...a place at the bar or a table - it was a very happening place with lots of energy (not the best with people at close quarters during the Covid19 time). During nice times there is a nice bar and a courtyard area with seating. It is Spanish in theme and there are tapas and some larger dishes for sharing. The Jamón Serano and Seared Pulpo were very good (but a small tapas portion). We had Paella Mariscos, and it was generally good, but not quite as good as one might find in Barcelona. We are not fans of Spanish wines, but were able to fined a passible wine. Service was slow and had to be asked if one of our orders was ready. Other than service issues, we would return.More

Visited in December with a group of 8. The city was empty but this place was packed!. Over 1 hour wait to be seated, but the staff was attentive and gave us some tapas while we waited around the bar, great atmosphere. The food was...fantastic, a lot of variety. Some of the best dishes were the jamon and manchego croquetas, pulpo, beef empanadas, and the parrillada. The place was packed but the staff kept up pretty well.More

This restaurant was amazing from the ambiance, service to the delicious food and drinks. Barcelona Wine Bar did not disappoint. We needed a bigger table to hold all the plates filled with tapas. The sangria was delicious and they accommodated our son's kid palate by...offering to make him a grilled cheese.More

My work group went here on a Friday after working a conference. It was WILD and packed, so not the greatest for COVID. The craziest part of the night was the lady on a man's shoulders pouring shots of what seemed to be lemonade (yes,...I did it) into people's mouths. WUT? Anyway... we were seated fairly quickly for a large group with our reservation having added an extra person last minute. Service was 5-star considering the amount of customers they were serving. We pretty much tried everything on the menu: the burrata, the clams, the seared cauliflower, Gambas al Ajillo, hanger steak, potatas bravas, house marinated olives, mussels, bacon-wrapped dates, roasted carrots, Jamón & Manchego Croquettes, the beef empanadas, beet salad, Paella Mariscos, eggplant... the list goes on. Not one thing was short of excellent. I highly suggest trying to dine on a weeknight rather than the weekend to avoid the crowd.More

The restaurant offers a nice selection of tapas in a very pleasant environment. Great service and the wine list added to the night. I am in Spain a few times a year, and these are very small plates! The crowd noise made it very difficult...to have a conversation even though we were against a wall. Best to go during an off time.More

The food is very average, and they use way too much oil. The desserts are disappointing, would not recommend. The service is so-so, their reservation system is pretty inept and the staff are not able to problem solve leading to long waits for a table...despite confirmed reservations.More

I visited Barcelona to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Our party of five was dazzled. Each dish is unique and noteworthy in its own right. Though tapas, the servings are pretty satisfying. You'll want to try everything. My favorites were the Torreja Catalana (french toast) and...Gambas & Polenta (shrimp & grits).More

We had a reservation but still had to wait about 20 minutes. The place is hopping with a party atmosphere. The servers where good and food excellent - we had the prawns, cheese board, skirt steak, and bronzino and everything was done well. Chocolate cake...dessert was amazing. My only complaint would be that everything was bought out at the same time, felt a little rushed. My usual tapas experience is that they stagger the food a little so you can enjoy each dish.More

Outstanding! Very inviting and energetic atmosphere. Staff was great! We had a wide range off delicious small plates ranging from vegetables and meat /seafood. The large plates were most excellent. The diversity of the menu is most refreshing and fun to traverse. The platting was...very appealing and colourful. Would go back without hesitation. Long islands were on par with most. Our staff was very helpful in translating the dishes.More

If you have plans with friends a family for a special celebration, this is NOT the place - if you do NOT want to be embarrassed for suggesting this as your gathering option. Staff is VERY unfriendly, they really not care because if you walk...away, there is somebody else up next on the list to come in. Last night was my second time visiting this place, since I wanted to give it another try with 7 more friends. I suggested it for a special occasion. I was so embarrassed! Since they don’t take reservations for more than 4 people, we all went in early (7:00pm), one hostess was supposed to put us on wait list, but apparently he forgot and never did. After one hour of waiting, I approached another lady managing the wait list and said we were not on list, they forgot to add our name and they do not know when tables become available and they seat smaller groups first. By 9:00pm again, I approach them to ask where we were on that list; and she said she does not know because she can’t see line order and not guarantee a table for us. Her attitude was always so unfriendly. And servers always made us feel like we were on their way. We were standing, having drinks at the bar while waiting. I just got tired and told my friends to leave and almost at 10pm got a text to get a seat - after 3 hours of begging? NO WAY! Not on earth will drag me to go to that place ever again.More

Wonderful place. I had the octopus and c couple of other simple dishes b ut the reason for visiting was the wine list. An eclectic mix of interesting wines from the Spanish -speaking world (+ Lebanon), you can get 0.3 dl versions!!! Knowledgeable and friendly...barista, many customers relied on him for recommendations and it seems he never missed. Reasonable prices, a strong recommend.More
