Cinderella …Where Are They Now?

Cinderella ...Where Are They Now?

Formed in 1982 by Tom Keifer and Eric Brittingham, Cinderella was one of the biggest bands of the ’80s rock and metal era.  Following several lineup changes, the band solidified their members with Jeff Labar and Fred Coury.    The band’s debut album “Night Songs” was an instant success with comparisons being made to Aerosmith and AC/DC.  Cinderella released four critically-acclaimed studio albums,  Night Songs (1986), Long Cold Winter (1988), Heartbreak Station (1990), and Still Climbing (1994).  Tom Keifer announced in 2017 that the band had no plans to reunite.

So where are they now?

Tom Keifer (Lead vocals, rhythm & lead guitars, acoustic guitar, keyboards, piano, mandolin, Dobro, Saxophone, harmonica)

Tom Keifer has released two solo albums starting with “The Way Life Goes” in 2013 and more recently released “Rise” in 2019. Tom seems perfectly content to remain a solo artist and has been the most visible member of the group.  His first solo album “The Way Life Goes” received high praise from fans and critics alike.  The collection of 14 songs ranges from intimate, organic, acoustic tracks to driving hard rock. It embraces the Blues, Rock and Country roots that have always been present in his unique sound that has generated the sale of over 15 million records worldwide for Cinderella. Rolling Stone praised KEIFER as “a gritty, bluesy (rocker) with enough genuine swagger to draw comparisons to Mick Jagger. Tom currently resides in Nashville.

Eric Brittingham ( Bass, backing vocals)

In 2003 Eric Brittingham and Jeff LaBar joined forces in a band called “Naked Beggars” which also featured Eric’s wife at the time.  Naked Beggars released two albums including their debut in 2003 and “Spit It Out” in 2005.   In 2014 Eric co-formed the supergroup Devil City Angels which also included Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Rikki Rockett (Poison) and Brandon Gibbs. Eric left after the debut album was released and currently plays bass in the Bret Michaels band. Eric currently lives in Nashville.

Jeff LaBar (Lead & rhythm guitars, acoustic guitar, backing vocals)

Following his stint with Eric Brittingham in Naked Beggars, Jeff played with the bands “Freakshow” and “Cheap Thrill” before releasing his debut solo album “One For The Road” in 2014.  Cinderella guitarist Jeff LaBar’s “One For The Road” was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with long-time friend and noted engineer Ronnie Honeycutt, and mixed & mastered by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (KXM/Lynch Mob/Lita Ford). Jeff’s first solo release entitled “One For The Road” highlights both his songwriting and guitar playing abilities. About the album, Jeff states, “This record is written about parts of my life since the hay-days of Cinderella….and there is a lot more where that came from!” The song “No Strings” features Tesla’s Troy Luccketta on drums and was mixed by Cinderella drummer Fred Coury. “I wrote ‘No Strings’ following my first marriage and subsequent divorce,” LaBar says. “The relationship was awesome; the breakup, not so much.” Still, the guitarist and vocalist called the clip “a labor of love, as it was my first for a song that I wrote myself.”The song “Ode To Page” is Jeff’s acoustic tribute to Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Featured tracks include: “No Strings”, “Asking For A Beating”, “Muse”, “Hello Or Goodbye”, “Ode To Page”, “Nightmare on My Street”, and “One For The Road”. Tracks on the CD range from classic, early Cinderella-style hard rock, to groove-laden blues rock and really captures the magic and spirit of the genre that Jeff helped create! Jeff briefly co-hosted an internet radio show “Late Night with the LaBar’s”. Jeff was known as “Chef Jeff” in his later profession. Jeff lived in Nashville until his untimely death on July 14, 2021, at the age of 58.

Jeff’s son, Sebastian is the lead guitarist in the bands Mach22 and Tantric.

Fred Coury (Drums, percussion, backing vocals)

In 1991 Fred left Cinderella and joined Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy in a new group called Arcade.  Coury rejoined Cinderella in 2006. Since Cinderella disbanded, Fred spends most of his time in his studio “Double Forte Music” in L.A.  Coury has been quite successful composing scores for film and television and has won multiple awards for his contributions. In 2014 Fred begins work on NBC’s ‘The Night Shift’. Coury scored all four seasons of the television series, claiming ASCAP Awards for it in 2015 and 2016. Fred has also composed music for the Portland Trail Blazers, and the L A Kings. Fred currently lives in the Los Angeles area.
