Etta singt seit vielen Jahrzehnten.
I love this CD it has some great tracks on it. A more funky album than you would normally expect but worth getting nonetheless. Actually it's worth getting just for her cover version of Otis Redding's I got dreams to remember.
If you like blues, and you don't know about Etta James, get this CD. Straight ahead blues with an edge. I have several of Etta's CD's, and this is my second favorite. "Get Funky" is a little out of genre for me, but it still makes you move. "Beware" is a scorcher. Overall, if this CD doesn't make you move, your dead.
This is a very strong album, one of her best, especially if you like the bluesy side of Etta. Actually, it isn't ALL blues - she gets a rapper called Def Jef to do a bit on one track, which personally I find spoils that track a lot. Many good tracks though, and several outstanding ones such as 'The Blues Don't Care' & "You're Real Good Thing (Is About To End)' There are more great tracks as well, I just can't be bothered to list them all. Sorry to be a little cynical, at least in the title of this review. In her autobiography, Etta wrote that she was a bit surprised that white people saw her as a BLUES artist. Since I've been a fan of hers for nearly 40 years, and have never seen her as anything BUT a blues artist, I was a bit surprised by this, though perhaps not by her comment that Black people don't have much use for the blues these days.
Etta James found her medium in recorded music and live performance. This CD is just another account of what she was on earth to do, Stickin' to [her] guns.
