Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses Dane, Sauk, Green, Iowa, Lafayette counties and parts of Richland and Rock counties. Pocan has held the seat since first winning in 2012.
In 2021 — as Democrats around Wisconsin began searching for a candidate to run against Republican Sen. Ron Johnson in this year’s midterms — Pocan announced he wouldn’t run for the seat, saying the best way for him to “fight for Wisconsin and for progressive values” was to stay in the House of Representatives.
“To start my seniority all over in the Senate would be a less effective path to getting the work done for which I came to Congress,” Rep. Pocan said at the time.
Pocan serves on the House Committee on Appropriations and the House Committee on Education and Labor, and is co-chair of several House caucuses, including the Labor Caucus, Defense Spending Reduction Caucus, and the Equality Caucus.
