Denmark, 2014. A former police officer asks Carl Mørck, head of Department Q, to find out who brutally killed his young twins in 1994. This movie only improved on the first one.
The characters Carl and Assad were back but this time they also get a secretary and even though she has little screen time, she still has some good and fun moments. The movie was still dark and maybe even a bit darker than the first one because of all the violence.
I also liked the story more, as it was bigger and more intense, while the flashbacks also didn’t instantly tied together with the investigation, which added some more mystery.
There were a whole group of bad guys this time, who had many high ranking contacts, which also added some more hopelessness to the movie’s tone. The…
It was giving off serious Girl with the dragon tattoo vibes for some strange reason, on most days that's enough to convince me it's a good thriller.
Great improvement over the first one, the story was more complex and intriguing, these characters have to keep going on. I hope they keep making movies about them. I know they are based on a series of books, haven't read any, probably I won't ever. Although I hope for more of the Q department.
I'm not sure if it's the genre or the type of movie, but this films have a similar atmosphere to the Milleniem series, except without the girl or the tatoo, also the darkness of films like The Behandeling. Films are getting darker.

„Schändung“ ist deutlich besser als der Vorgänger „Erbarmen“.
Die Figuren sind installiert und dürfen ohne Erklärung durchstarten, der Plot ist vielschichtiger und fesselnder und alles wirkt runder.
Der TV-Charakter ist geblieben, stört aber nicht.
Ein guter. düsterer und sehenswerter skandinavischer Thriller.
The second part in the Department Q series is not as good as the first one, mainly because the mystery isn’t as good. But the main cast grows and the supporting cast is a step above the first one so that kinda even things up. I’ll probably watch the rest of the series someday.
The overwhelmed plot, the lack of reality on the plot twists and the excessively cliché nehaviour from the main character (who is self-destructive but demonstrates extreme empathy with others, at the point of exposing that he just does not kill himself because he feels that a stranger needs him...) throw far away everything that was built in the first film. I'm about to watch, out of curiosity, the next ones. This one does not deserve to be watched or reviewed.
O exagero do roteiro, a falta de realidade das reviravoltas e o caráter excessivamente clichê do personagem principal (que é autodestrutivo mas demonstra extrema empatia com os outros, a ponto de expôr que só não se mata porque sente que uma desconhecida precisa dele) jogou ladeira abaixo tudo o que foi construído no primeiro filme. A ver, por curiosidade, os próximos. Este aqui, não merece ser revisto.
The thing with detective thrillers is that it’s all about the story. The first one was a good bit of creepy fun. The sequel is both less creepy and less fun.
Carl Mørck (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) is back! So is Assad (Fares Fares)! Hooray! This picks up in the wake of their success in solving the mystery of the first film, and they’ve gained some notoriety. That notoriety gets them the case of a brother and sister murdered some decades ago, with secrets galore simmering under the surface of some very well-off members of Danish society.
The best part of this also highlights why it doesn’t really work. Both Danica Ćurčić and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina play the same character, named Kimmie,…
Wenn man den ersten Film kennt, dann wird ein dieser Film nicht überraschen. Düster, brutal und deprimierend wird der Fall erzählt. Leider werden einige Themen, die angesprochen werden, nicht ganz zu Ende gedacht.
