      Critics Consensus

Maid takes great care with its sensitive subject matter to craft a drama that is not always easy to watch, but undeniably powerful, grounded by an outstanding performance by Margaret Qualley.

Kelly Lawler USA Today The drama offers a blistering portrayal of the realities of poverty as seen through the eyes of Alex... Dec 29, 2021 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au Maid deals with the hardship of female poverty with a straight approach, and always centred through the experiences of this sympathetic character that you want to root for. Nov 2, 2021 Full Review Elizabeth Skoski Slate At a time when women's discontent has gone from "the problem that has no name" to a primal scream, Maid fails to show a place in between, one where mothers are given a voice without having to be perfect. Oct 30, 2021 Full Review Alexandra MacAaron Women's Voices for Change It takes the average woman 7 attempts to leave her abusive partner. And nearly 25% of single mothers live in poverty. Maid shines a light on a real problem, and the thoroughly broken system trying to solve it. It should be required watching for all of us. Rated: 9/10 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Natalia Trzenko La Nación (Argentina) The story's greatest emotional impact is provided by Qualley's remarkable performance. [Full review in Spanish] Jan 11, 2022 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Sometimes a series comes seemingly out of left field. No big hype or ad campaign. Not a ton of star power. And yet it captures the attention of millions. Rated: 4/5 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Mikael B This is one of those series where you feel as if you're in the show, you feel every up and down with Alex, this is one of my favourite shows, the acting feels very natural. This show might be difficult to watch because of it's real mood, but it is just done beautifully. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Audience Member A realistic TV show Really enjoyed it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review James D This is cringe. I am pretty sure that there is an unwritten rule in creative writing that your main character should never be the creator of his or her own demise. No character development whatsoever, from beginning to end the protagonist is just some clueless chick who somehow keeps making terrible decisions. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Taylor H Maid will kick you down, and continue to kick you until to the very end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Caitlin T AMAZING! I couldn't keep my eyes off of this series, it shows there really is help out there for abused women.. and it also helps us women see that abuse isn't just violent, it's also mental.. the way this series shows how hard it is for a single parent to work, and find childcare, and the struggles of saving money to have something go wrong to start from the beginning again, love, love, love it's a MUST WATCH!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review V B Dumb main character who doesn't learn from her mistakes Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
