Planned the cruise based on the overnight in Bordeaux. Unfortunately, since they planned to dock in Le Verdon, no tour operators would travel that far to offer city or wine tours. Celebrity also canceled their tour to St Emilion. Based on that, we canceled our reservation. And, yes, they kept the deposit

Not my first Celebrity cruise, but the first one with obvious issues. Thinking about it, I pondered what's happened since my last cruise last January. For context, it was the 11 day British Isles cruise in 8274, a veranda stateroom aboard Silhouette. Generally, nice ship, friendly staff except for these gaps not experienced before. Who's to blame? We booked directly with Celebrity, asked for specialty dining and beverage packages. Upon first asking for a can of flavored sparkling water advertised on every table of the buffet floor, the waiter said our "classic" beverage package only covered drinks to $10. But the card price was $6. The waiter couldn't explain the disconnect so we, in relaxed vacation mode, asked the manager. Ruben came over to tell us he was seeing what we were, but that "...was the way it was." So... blame Corporate for this policy error, but blame the Captain for Ruben's lame and ungracious answer that at the very least should have been included an apology. From the ship I emailed Celebrity customer service asking about my package, Jessica responded 3 days later telling me to ask my travel agent... but I had booked directly, blame Corporate for the dismissive response. Our second excursion left an hour late because apparently the ship had docking issues with port authorities at Dunmore. Oops. Then there was William working the excursion auditorium also with hospitality issues. "Please move out of the corridor, this is an emergency exit" he shouted at us. Okay, fine... though we'd done the same for days. But his infection was demeaning and sounded to many like a power trip. Another lady asked him not to "change her good mood into a bad one." When we exited 15min later, it was through the same hall packed full of waiting passengers like us ..so apparently William was on a momentary power trip. He was just as militaristic with many older folks leading them to the gangway. Blame the Captain here, Corporate might have hired him, but allowing his demeaning announcements to go unmonitored and uncorrected is the Captain's team's fault. Then there was Alma (?) apparently in charge of letting us back on the ship at Glasgow. One guy with stripes said two young women could go ahead and walk up, Alma started literally yelling at them not realizing her colleague had passed them. That frightened them, we explained they had been passed, she then started yelling at her colleague in front of everyone that she was in charge. Embarrassed, but professionally, the striped officer absorbed it and walked away. If necessary, something this admonishment should have been done away from a line of hundreds of guests trying to reboard. Though we all have bad days, this seemed oddly natural for her. Then add the chipped and cracked cups in the buffet, the frayed towels in our cabin and the stained toilet seat as pictured. The toilet seat stain was now in the plastic seemingly requiring a seat replacement. I cannot determine if this is Corporate cost savings or local (Captain) profit incentive motivated. But it's certainly not 5-star standards. Truth is, Celebrity is a fine cruise company and my single star rating reflects them versus their advertised standards, not them against other cruise companies. I suspect this particular ship is run by senior management choosing to be uninvolved in day to day operations, that's a shame.

Our second cruise on Silhouette and another amazing experience. Cabin beautifully clean and housekeeping staff extremely helpful and attentive. The entire crew were fantastic but special mention to Avinash, Ella, Anish, Deju and Baba at the sky lounge who went above and beyond to ensure their guests were happy and well looked after. The Caribbean was breathtaking and we are so glad that we chose this ship to experience all of the islands. We have already booked our third cruise on Silhouette in October and it can’t come fast enough!

This was my first cruise. My mum aunty and uncle have been cruising for 20 years with celebrity and royal Caribbean so i was excited to experience this with them. The check in was fast at Southampton. The ship is very impressive. We had an inside cabin on deck 9 which was spacious and clean.. Pleanty of room for me and my mum. The sunset bar was my favorite place to enjoy and get the most out of my premium package. The bar tenders Lamin and Bailey was very attentive and kept a close eye on when my champagne flute was running low. The martini bar is the place to be at night and again the bar men ( sorry cant remeber their names) made sure that they had Tattinger for me every night. We did the Tuscan a la carte.. Its pricey but worth it. Best italian food ive had outside of italy. The ocean view at breakfast and lunch was chaos.. We spent many of times walking around the buffett trying to find a table.. This was down to selfish passengers hogging tables when not eating even though there is signs on the tables asking people to leave after they have eaten. We experienced this again in the coffee shop..old dears asleep in the chairs. My family said that they had never experienced this before on any of their previous cruises. The main dining room of an evening is superb.. Our waiter was very helpful and very friendly. Although this was my first cruise its sadly my last as celebrity have changed the prices on the drinks package.

Having recently returned from my second Celebrity Cruise, I felt I needed to add a review! Pros: Cabin was adequate (7625) there was three of us sharing and although a little snug there was plenty of space for our belongings. The staff on this ship appart from customer relations were amazing, so happy and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. Cons: Where do I start, on boarding the ship I noticed the decor was rather depressing, dark shades and dim lighting! I have recently travel on Celebrity Constelation and found this ship beautiful, however the decor was not going to put me off...positive vibes only I thought at this time! Entertainment, well lack of entertainment, I actually didn't find any decent entertainment in the ten days on board, it just wasn't hitting the spot, the only time everyone seemed to show an interest was a 30min ABBA slot in the foyer, the passengers were all up dancing, however the fun was soon to be over! The ABBA fun was swiftly replaced by the resident band that had as much charisma as a November wet cold day in the UK! This seemed to be the every day entertainment, the resident band and a few people fox trotting around the floor (they were having the time of their life) A white night was promised, and 80's vibes were advertised. Great, that should be fun! ...nope the resident band rocked up and decided an 80's theme wasn't for them....another ruined night! We gave up and decided to follow in the footsteps on 70% of the ship most nights and go to bed around 10pm! Food: Awful, inadequate and luke warm, we tried the select dinning option and was disappointed with the choice and food offered in the formal dinning room. The buffet option was the nightly choice after that but left us feeling short changed! I raved about the food I had on the Constellation, it was on another level of fabulous so either this ship was a poor choice or Celebrity are cutting corners! Value for money: It felt at every turn Celebrity were trying to get more money out of you from upgrading WiFi (we bought the drinks and WiFi package but this was the basic package unbeknown to us) The Spa prices are on another level of ridiculous as is booking a speciality restaurant ($60 extra per person to book an Indian meal) Extra to transfer your luggage to the airport, extra for premium cocktails, extra to breath! They've actually recharged me for gratituities that I paid when booking so check your bank on your return. My overall thoughts, this ship has put me off booking another Celebrity Cruise, I feel let down by the whole experience, even the pre-booked catamaran trip fell short of expectation! We made the most of the holiday and met some lovely people and visited some wonderful Caribbean islands meeting some amazing local characters along the way, however I won't be booking a Celebrity Cruise any time soon, if at all. Quick tip, if your booking the Caribbean, once through the port find local taxi drivers and excursions they're a fraction of the price as well as a better more informative experience with local characters that will give you information on the islands and their experience of living there!
