Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant, turns 22 on Wednesday. To mark her birthday, the Palace has released some new portraits.
Elisabeth is the eldest child of King Philippe of Belgium and Queen Mathilde, and first in line to the throne. She was born on 25 October 2001 in Anderlecht.
Princess Elisabeth studies history and politics at Lincoln College, Oxford University, in the United Kingdom, but regularly returns to Belgium. In 2020, she obtained her International Baccalaureate at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, before studying military and social sciences at the Royal Military Academy for a year, the Royal Palace website states in her biography.
Princess Elisabeth is also a polyglot: she is fluent in Dutch, French, German and English, according to the Royal Palace website. She is sporty and enjoys skiing, rowing and sailing, among other activities. She has also been taking piano lessons for several years.
