LakeHouse Restaurant on South Shore Bay

Waterfront dining. Good food we had fish entrees. Service was good. The prices were a little high but it’s generally more expensive to eat at waterfront restaurants. We would return.

If you are looking for a restaurant on the water, give the LakeHouse a try

A decent restaurant on the water with friendly staff and good food. If you are a vegetarian, you will have to be creative in trying to find something to eat. Parking was a bit of a challenge close to the restaurant but, overall, it's not bad.

Absolutely poor service

Food was very good. Service was terrible until we complained to mgt. It was a Wed night at 6. There is no excuse for this at a restaurant that charges top dollar and is supposedly one of Long Islands top restaurants.

my first and last visit...food was fairly good, however, not for the prices they charge....and they charge for everything, the bread ....and even for using a credit card to pay....I have been to restaurants that offer a discount for paying for cash, but never have I been charged for using a credit card.....the credit card, visa, charges between 1.4-2.5% per transaction, however the restaurant charged me about 4%....I guess their goal is to make money at every angle...

Atmosphere was sub-par

Had made a reservation a month in advance. Location of our table was awful. It was a very small table for 2 in the middle of the dining room. We felt very cramped. Food was excellent, however, quite pricey. There is a charge for bread on the table. Service was superb

Good Ambiance, not great for vegetarians

Great spot but as a vegetarian to other vegetarians I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for the food. I will caveat and say that all the other people in my party really enjoyed the meat and seafood items they ordered and therefore my review is specific to the vegetarian options. Ambiance: 5 stars! It's located on the water with very nice outdoor seating. It also has these beautiful big windows so it's great for the cold seasons as well. The night we went, there was thunderstorm and we were able to see lightening while we sat by the window. Service: Everyone there was very nice and fairly prompt. At the end of the night, it did get a bit slow, but overall I was very happy with the service. Food: They unfortunately don't have vegetarian options other than salad. They were kind enough to make me a vegetarian pasta but it was pretty basic and under seasoned. It was essentially a olive oil based "sauce" with pasta and vegetables. They do have a mushroom risotto on the menu but it's made with chicken broth and when I asked they weren't able to make it fresh with a vegetarian broth. I also ordered the herb frites, it's french fries. Dessert: I got the triple chunky gooey cookie. It was delicious! Looked more like a cake than a cookie but was still very happy with the dessert. Overall, as a vegetarian, you can go with the mindset that you're there for dessert, drinks, and the ambiance and you'll have a good time.

A Special Occasion Worthy Restaurant

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary last night at he Lakehouse. Excellent service. Attentive but we were never rushed. So many great options on the menu. We had cod and scallops entrees. We visit the Lakehouse for special occasions and have never been disappointed. There was bad weather but the views were still incredible. The decor is understated and tasteful. We look forward to our next visit.

Lunch on The Bay

Not as good as the last few visits. The service was slow, the food was good. The bathrooms were dirty. Not what expected. Been there before and it has dropped off.

Terrific!

Wanted to treat an elderly friend from Manhattan to a drive and a memorable holiday lunch...chose The LakeHouse based on reviews and it was perfect! They treated us both professionally and with great kindness. Our meals were delicious. We sat unhurried for about two hours never feeling pressured to move along. The view was terrific! We are likely to make this trip again. Thank you!

The Lakehouse on the Bay!

After our 4 mile hike, my husband and I visited the Lakehouse, which isn't on a lake at all, but is waterfront on the bay. It's beautifully renovated, gorgeous vistas, and food and drinks that are wonderful. I had two blood margaritas and salmon for a late lunch and it was like a culinary birthday party going on in my mouth! You cannot go wrong at this restaurant!

Wedding Bliss!

Hosted a wedding here and could not be happier. The service, the delicious food and of course the absolutely gorgeous view made this such a wonderful memory. The event manager did a terrific job, was very accommodating and was on site directing personnel the entire time. Every server was friendly, professional and very helpful with all that was going on. We had guest from 20 different states and they all RAVED about the food. Most have never been to such a beautiful restaurant, location or experienced food like this before. Such a memorable event that will be talked about amongst our family forever . I highly recommend.

Wonderful Evening Celebrating a Birthday with a friend

The LakeHouse is such a special place! The setting is perfect on the water and it has an upscale but not pretentious feel. Our waiter David ( who only works on Thursdays) did everything he could to make our night even better! We had the Tuna Tartare, Shrimp, Garden Salad, Filet YUM, and the Skirt Steak. I know its a seafood restaurant but were still wowed.

Best Calamari

Hard to get a weekend reservation but booked 30 days ahead. Not sure why they play games- I asked for outside and then when I called to confirmed I said ONLY outside. They show us to a table inside and I reminded them outside. They make a big show as though it will be a big problem and major delay but find something right on dock immediately. View of inlet with ferries is very nice. Service was great. The calamari was the best I ever ate and a nice portion. The dinner was unremarkable. Duck was a bit more than medium rare and dry. I had never had striped bass although I catch them all the time so I figured I would try it. I think it was cooked nicely but the fish did not have much taste - probably not the restaurants fault. The key lime pie was awesome but the coconut crumble should not be the plate - you'd break a tooth trying to eat it. Got to watch some privileged folk dock their big boats and show off while we ate. When we return maybe on a slower night we order more apps and maybe the scallops.

Very disappointed

Had lunch yesterday at the Lake House. The appetizer, smoked nova salmon.... was supposed to be served with horseradish creme fraiche. Well there was no horseradish in the white drizzle. It tasted more like vinegar. Hadn't finished the appy when the halibut entree was placed in the middle of the table, as I was still eating the appetizer. The place wasn't crowded so I don't know what the rush was. Halibut had no taste. Thank goodness for the cucumber panzanella concoction. Can't say I liked it, but it gave the halibut some flavor. The waiter never came over to see how the meal was. No bread anymore unless you pay. Sorry, but you need to go back to the food & service you had before the covid virus. And stop making people pay for bread!!

Perfect special occasion restaurant only is the scenery gorgeous,

Not only is the scenery gorgeous, the food spectacular, delicious and artistically presented, but this lovely restaurant on the water is owned by people who really understand hospitality. When making the reservation I mentioned that we would like a pretty table by the water because it was our anniversary. Everyone from hostess to to the attentive waiter to busboy wished us happy anniversary and they surprised us with a candle on our cake! The duck with wheatberry pilaf was delicious as was the halibut served with broccoli, coriander, cucumber and lime. Rolls were yummy (basket was $6). The chocolate cake was heavenly. The perfect special occasion restaurant!
