Yerba Buena High School Reviews
Rating 3.57 out of 5 438 reviews
The best part of attending Yerba Buena High School is hte diverisity and community resources they provide to make students feel welcomes in the campus. Yerba Buena's VSA, also known as Vietnamese Stuednt Association, is a club that welcomes not only Vietnamese students but Non-Vientamese students to a club that values Vietnamese culture and offers different cultural dances such as fan, straw hat, umbrella, and long fans to participating students. Yerba Buena High School also has a BSU, also known as a Black Student Union that welcomes black people a second home who attend Yerba Buena High School and provides college programs, presentations during advisory, and Black people union field trips for those who attend their meetings. Yerba Buena also offers a Flipino Student Union clubs that allows students to run as officers to lead their clubs in order to make Flipino students who attend Yerba Buena feel reminded of their culture at a majority Mexican, Vietnamese, and White community.
The school has inflated grades because many of the teachers allow for retakes for tests and quizzes. Many of the teachers "baby" their students by allowing them to turn in assignments late and make up their points by miniscule/easy assignments. One thing to note is that the school isn't that safe, many of the students skip class to go vape in the restrooms and the school faculty doesn't do much about it; on campus there are often fights (once every 2-3 months) and the most the school has done was went an email about "bullying" which doesn't truly address the issue. The only pro that I can think of is their programs, especially their program "CCA" because it allows you to have duel enrollment and prepares you for college, because of this, many of the students within the program have a true passion for getting a higher education.
It felt as every other regular high school. Despite the vast population of minority and low income students it holds, the school does well to support most. There are good programs and opportunities to put yourself out there and get support through college. The teachers and staff are passionate and supportive. The campus gets dangerous, because of students and the surrounding area, however it is nothing unmanageable.
