My community is very close and there are many local events that go on about every weekend. There have been many improvements to our downtown area with expansions and growth to local restaurants and community events.
So far, my experience with Bakersfield has been great. I have met a lot of great people and everyone has been very helpful.
This place has very different areas. Some areas are very safe with very friendly people while other areas are much more sketchy. I would like to see more change within the systems and allow for there to be more help for residents who need it.
I've lived in every region of the country, and moving to Bakersfield is my biggest regret. If you are not Hispanic or White, you will experience racism. Exclusion from jobs, within the workplace and even at restaurants. Safety in downtown Bakersfield is horrible. I've experienced attempted break ins personally. If you are the type of person who minds their own business, this is not the place for you either. Neighbors are extremely noisy, and will ask "where are you going?", "Where are you headed to?" as you leave your house. One even tried to get me to get in his car.
Please don't move here.

I moved here in 2019 the things I like about Bakersfield is that they have a lot of job opportunities. The weather is also great out here. I get along with others in the community well. I rarely see crimes going on in my area. They might have some incidents but I learned how to protect myself and kids.
Bakersfield is a small but growing city located in California. One thing I really like about Bakersfield is the sunny weather. The city experiences a lot of sunny weather which is perfect for outdoor activities. Another thing that I really love is, we are at most an hour away from the beaches, the snow, and big cities. Bakersfield is known for its vast farmlands and agricultural production. And a lot of people are involved with our community.
My overall experience with Bakersfield is outstanding! My family and I moved in here about two or three years ago and I am loving it. I am happy with the choice my family made. I was born in Los Angeles, and I hated it. There was a lot of people and traffic. There is a lot of poor people as well and the city is not sanitary. Ever since I moved in here, the city is clean and there is no traffic at all. There are more opportunities in Bakersfield as well and the sports in here are more competitive which I love and enjoy. I love playing soccer and since I was a kid I loved playing in clubs. When I moved in here, from my experience with the sport, the competition in here is way high up than in LA. The coaches and players here in Bakersfield are more competitive and take the sport more serious. The coaches and the community are extremely respectful and committed to their passion. Bakersfield is a safe place where you can enjoy anything. I have gained a lot of new and exciting experience!
Bakersfield has very little to do. I would like to see more activities. Our education system is also not the best. I would live to see that change.
Bakersfield is a decent place to live if wanting to get by. There are a lot of different activities to do here, but it can get boring. Though the beach or mountains aren't far away which is a plus. The air quality can get bad and it makes Bakersfield kinda ugly though its not like that all the time. Overall very decent place to live.
I enjoy living in Bakersfield. I would like to see the roads cleaner and the community in general because Bakersfield has so much potential. I really like how diverse Bakersfield is.
My experience in Bakersfield, CA was largely positive. I appreciated the warm and sunny weather, the abundance of fresh produce from the agricultural industry, and the sense of community spirit that permeated the city. Being close to natural attractions like the Sierra Nevada mountains and national parks provided ample opportunities for outdoor recreation.
However, there are areas where I believe Bakersfield could improve. Traffic congestion during peak hours was a notable issue, and the city's air quality could be better, especially considering its agricultural activities. Additionally, fostering greater diversity and inclusion, diversifying the local economy, and investing in infrastructure projects would contribute to the city's overall growth and development. Aside from all of that, I grew up here, and it will always feel like home. The people are friendly, there are many local businesses to support, and beautiful parks to take your family to.

My overall experience is excellent. We have many stores and businesses nearby. The commute is not great, but its also not bad.
I have lived in Bakersfield my entire life. The community I'm in is truly amazing and everyone looks out for each other.
Bakersfield isn't a bad town to live in for a few years. As someone who has resided there all my life I will say it gets boring very fast. The first year there are many activities that you can indulge in. From bowling, golfing, swimming, and arcades. The problem occurs after you've done all of these things and there is nothing left. It goes from being a crystal palace to more of a ghost town. Additionally, you must also struggle with the insane heat waves, bad air quality, and increasing housing prices. I think that Bakersfield needs severe renovations and new activities for the residents. Maybe then people will want to come instead of trying to avoid it.
Bakersfield is a very open space with wide roads and easy routes. However, weather gets really hot during summer and fall.
The city needs more diversity. I have noticed there is a lot of racism and slowing growing. Certain areas have great public schools but it needs more diversity.
In my area there are is a lot of crime, but day life is decent. Schools and roads could use improvement but it is an alright city.
