Acting career
Many of Arthur’s early roles were in classic TV shows including “Bachelor Father,” “I Spy,” and “The Monkees.” She landed the role of Hedy LaRue in the national touring company of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” as well as appearing in the role on Broadway for a period. Arthur also played Hedy in the 1967 film adaptation of the musical. Her later movies included “The Love God?” and “How to Commit Marriage.” Arthur’s career continued with TV appearances including several episodes of “Love, American Style” as well as “Sanford and Son,” “Laverne & Shirley,” “Mork & Mindy,” and “Highway to Heaven.” She starred in the short-lived 1984 TV series “Empire.”
