David Clayton, M.D.

Dr. David Clayton received his undergraduate training in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He worked for more than ten years in Inpatient Psychiatry for the County of Santa Clara, California. He attended medical school at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, graduating in 1997. After doing his internship in Internal Medicine in Saint Louis, he completed both a Residency in Adult Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. He moved to Northern Virginia in 2002.
Dr. Clayton is currently providing only outpatient care. Dr. Clayton provides Diagnostic Evaluations, Psychotherapy, and Psychopharmacology services for children, adolescents, and adults. He does not work with geriatric patients. He has special experience and interest in working with patients with Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Elimination Disorders. Dr. Clayton refers to Fairfax Hospital, Dominion Hospital and Children’s Hospital National Medical Center for patients who are in need of inpatient treatment. He refers to both the Kellar Center and Dominion Hospital’s Day Treatment Programs for patients in need of partial hospitalization or day treatment.
He is available Monday through Friday mornings, afternoons, and some evenings. Please contact our office to discuss availability.
