It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College, which is an 11-18 secondary academy within the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation. Hatcham College has a long history dating back to 1692. This history is very important to the Federation, as it means that we have been in the business of educating young people in London for over three hundred years. The staff and I here at the College, are committed to developing academic excellence and achievement across all subjects. Our priority is to provide Quality First Teaching and we wish for all of our students to be well-qualified and equipped to face an increasingly competitive world, where background or starting points are no barrier to progress and success. Our 2019 A Level results were strong once again with students gaining places at University of Cambridge and four students starting courses in medicine. 82% of our students gained Grade 4-9 in GCSE English with just under 27% of our students gaining Grades 7-9 in GCSE Mathematics. We have a wide range of enrichment and engaging opportunities; literary, mathematical, sporting, musical, dramatic, artistic, career-centred, networking, social, digital and many more. We have a close relationship with our chief benefactors, the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers’. Every Year 7 student has the opportunity to visit the iconic Haberdashers’ Hall and many students participate in a number of Federation wide events and functions, which becomes a very special memory for our pupils. We take pride in our Askean values which develop academic excellence, cultural capital, self-discipline, professional pride and service to others. These are embedded in all of our daily work and we serve our young people to aspire, achieve and be the best version of themselves.
