- Alan_GoncalvesMontreal, Canada18 contributionsNot only is this place an amazing piece of architecture, but it's also an awesome spot if you are into history. It's one of those places where it's nice to have a guided tour. There's beautiful stained glass all around, and they alone can be a lot of information. However, the main attraction here are the tombs and mausoleums of kings, queens, and nobles. The marble sculptures are incredibly refined and realistic. If you get a tour guide, ask them about the royal sacrifice (or at least read about it before you go)! Tips: the regular ticket does not include a guided tour, but it will grant you a discount for some other churches in Paris; the guided tours include a history lesson on the neighborhood and on the past of Paris with a wooden model of the city; next to the church, on the way to the metro station, there is a grocery shop (Carrefour), where you can buy great cheese for a great price!Written June 28, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rncsssLondon, UK187 contributionsEasy to get to from central Paris on the RER-H, inexpensive to get into, this quiet little insight into Claude Monet's short spell in the 1870s in Argenteuil is a gem. An audio-visual insight into the artists creativity and the history of the town at the time, coupled with some discreet colours and designs in the rooms in this little house, made my trip a revelation.
It must seem even better on a sunny spring or summer day, rather than on the gloomy winter's day that I was there. But, having said that, watching two magpies building their nest in the biggest tree in the tiny garden was so uplifting: I thought of Money's painting La Pie (in the Musee d'Orsay) with an affectionate smile.
Don't, as other reviewers seem to have done, confuse this Monet house with the one at Giverny. This is a small house in a quiet street in a Paris suburb.Written February 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For the last 30 secondes, the instructor helps you to go quick descents and climbs up. The only bad spot is expensive price.Written March 17, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
