Excelentia. Morricone, 100 Years of Film

A unique concert at the National Music Auditorium (Sala Sinfónica) on 28 June, which pays tribute to the composer Ennio Morricone and 100 years of film. Enjoy the best soundtracks from films such as Casablanca and Gone with the Wind performed by the Royal Film Concert Orchestra. 

Ennio Morricone was the creator of some of the best known compositions and soundtracks in the history of film, of which he is estimated to be the author of more than 500. In 1961, he embarked on his career as a composer for the film Il Federale directed by Luciano Salce, but he rose to fame with westerns thanks to A Fistful Of Dollars (1964); For a Few Dollars More (1965); Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) and Duck, You Sucker! (1971). The music composed for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966) is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable in the history of film.

He has worked with numerous international directors of the likes of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Bernardo Bertolucci, Giuseppe Tornatore, Brian De Palma and Oliver Stone, as well as two Spanish names who also stand out: Luis Buñuel and Pedro Almodóvar. His most outstanding contributions include the compositions for films such as Cinema Paradiso, The Untouchables of Eliot Ness, Once Upon a Time in America and The Mission.

The Royal Film Concert Orchestra will perform a selection of songs from popular films, such as Cinema Paradiso, Casablanca, The Godfather or Gone with the Wind, among others.
