How to eliminate two factor verification on My Verizon account login

Logging into  My Verizon to manage our family plan is now a nightmare.  I used to login with  either an id or the primary number on the account with the password (and a security question).  Now, I can try that but it always pauses and requires action from a text sent to primary account number (which is my son's phone in another city).  This is incredibly inefficient and inconvenient.  This has become a security nightmare.

When I have been able to get in (with my son being available to verify the text), I have disabled two factor in the system.  But that has made no difference.  Still have to verify to his primary number.

How can we either disable this so I can log in with password/security question or how can we change the primary account number from his number to mine (since I pay for the family plan and manage it).  It was sent up with him as the primary when I did not have a verizon phone (but a business issued phone). I always paid the family plan for wife, son and daughters.  Now I too am on the plan.  And I want to get into it without having to bother him.

Btw - we are all set up as account managers so we can individually go to a store and upgrade, add.

Help!

Ensuring you have added protection on your account is always a good thing. Help is here. We can check your account for more options but first, how did you disable the add layer of protection? Just want to ensure we are on the same page.

I had checked the toggle box in the profile that said disable two factor verification.  That did not stop the necessity to respond to a text to the primary act number.  Can that text verification be eliminated?

If not, how can I change the primary act from my son's number to me, so I don't bother him.  My number is part of the plan, I pay the bills, and manage the account.  This two factor text has screwed that up for us.

My son is the primary account number.  I am the person who is responsible for the plan and pays the bills, and manages everything for everyone.  SO, I want my number to become the primary number.  This wasn't an issue before the text verification went into effect.  Now it is a problem.  So, what is necessary to change the primary number from one to another on the same plan?  Or how can we eliminate the text verification going to son's phone?  If he calls in can someone change this?  Or if he and I go to a store, can we change this?  How can we adjust this.  This has to be possible to do.

Getting the primary number changed on the plan is certainly something we can help with, MemZ. We will need account access to assist with this, and you'll need to be listed on the account as an account manager. If you are unsure, you can have the account owner get you added by following these steps: https://www.verizon.com/support/assign-account-manager-roles-faqs/

Otherwise, please be on the lookout for a private message from us.

I am having the same problem and its driving me crazy. Two factor authentication is disabled on all cell phones. No ability disable on Home side if that's the cause. Every time I try to log in - my son has to approve it. (He's not always available so this is so frustrating.). No other service does this!! Elizabeth

Hello, being on top of your service is vital, especially if you are managing your My Verizon account. Verizon is here to help.

When did this two-factor authentication issue start? What change did you make? How did you disable the two-factor authentication on your end?

I don't think you understand what is being asked.  We are annoyed that this process is more combersome that using 2FA in other ways.

We absolutely agree that security is top priority.  However being forced to use the My Verizon app to do so is annoying, and by the OP's statement, very inefficient.

While other websites and apps offer options to use Authenticator Apps or other 2FA options, you force us to use My Verizon which is a pain when the account is not set up for that use.

We want options, not force-fed results.

I had the same issue with my son working nights, sleeping days and me paying the bill with authentication being sent to my son's phone. I had to call Verizon and have the main number switched to my number. Now I am getting the authorization notifications and when I click on them it just takes me to My Verizon on my phone without giving me any access on my computer. This is actually worse!!!! If Verizon wasn't the only phone service where I live I would not still be with them.

Hello, ClanMcRae. Help is here. Having the added security on your device is always a good thing. My apologies to hear things are worse. Are you receiving notifications that you did not request?

I have the same problem, just starting today when I changed the registration on my account. A customer service rep told me by phone that two factor verification is now a government requirement and that it can't be turned off. I find that hard to believe.
