The Academy for Urban Scholars Reviews
Rating 3.5 out of 5 4 reviews
My overall experience with the Academy For Urban Scholars was amazing. The main problem they have is being inconsistent with their rules and it made it unfair to a lot of students who did right. They also had bad organization, planning, and simply making announcements, there has been more events than I can count that were never announced, emailed or talked about until the day of and that cause a lot of students to miss out, they had no set emailing or notification system to make it any better and that caused a lot of problems for seniors who classes end early. Aside from their minor problems this is the first school I have ever went to where the teachers actually care about us graduating and our life at home. I have seen these teachers go the extra mile for the kids that I have never seen anywhere else. While every school has its flaws AUS lacks nothing when it comes to genuine education, love, support, guidance and career readiness. Going here changed my life and i wish I came sooner.
This is the worst school I have ever dealt with. They only go to school for an hour, barely ever have to go to actual base classes. The faculty have no clue what they are doing. My daughters teacher had an appointment so they didn't get another teacher to fill in they just told the students they could go home. Then when you call the school to ask them what's going on they just transfer you and never give an actual answer to anything. So needless to say I would not recommend this school to anybody that wants there kids to be anything or actually learn something. If you want your kid to have the easiest way without having to do anything really then perfect school.
Everything has a good and bad side, but we will start with the bad. When I was attending, the school was too blended with freshmen and seniors, leaving the education too easy and too hard for certain members in the classroom. The lack of discipline within the student body could be tied to the fact that the enforcers were too lenient, and that overall dropped school quality. However, after Covid, AUS took such a huge step forward, it was almost a new school. The school implemented a credit based classroom, there were more extracurricular programs to divide into, like STNA, construction, IT, and enlistment. The condensed classrooms increased productivity and some of the extra non school based classes (like music education) were exciting avenues to explore. So I would reconsider AUS as a pick of you want to graduate with more than a degree.
