Michael Wincott. What’s your opinion of him?

Honestly it baffles me this guy isn’t more popular. Anytime he shows up in a film he almost always steals the show with his gruff voice and overall creepy demeanor. Funnily enough I don’t think anyone he’s played has ever lived!

His voice work as Death in Darksiders 2 nailed the role.

I need to finish that. Can’t remember why I stopped.

Because it got really boring.

The ending was pretty rushed it felt like production ran out of steam and they had to come up with a way to end the game.

He played that role SO WELL. just, "I am 100% done with this bullshit, get out of my way, I don't care, I will never care, shut the fuck up, I got shit to do."

Such a great portrayal of Death.

Him as the Prophet of Truth in Halo 2 is one of my favourite voice acting performances of all time.

He seems to add something cool to every movie he’s in. His gravelly hiss of a voice and sociopathic stare are always great. One of the great, underrated character actors.

I read something once that described his voice as “honey coated gravel”.

Fucking nailed it.

u/nonserviam1977 avatar

Yeah, he kind of purrs his lines. Like a congested cat or something. He never seems to mail it in. I even enjoyed him when he was in some bullshit direct to video crime thriller with the curly-haired dude from CSI.

u/Subtle_Reality avatar

You talkin 'bout 1998s Gunshy?

u/nonserviam1977 avatar

Haha. Yeah, I totally was. Thinking about it now, it was actually a surprisingly solid movie. Wincott, despite his slight stature, was kind of convincing as an underworld enforcer. And William Petersen is always an interesting actor. It seems like he just missed being a bigger movie star. Maybe if Manhunter had been the big hit it should have been.

I recently watched Nope, having no idea he was in it…not a great role for him IMO but it was great to see him in a major film. I loved his 90s work.

One of them could have been opposite Morgan Freeman. But in the movie Along Came a Spider, based on the James Patterson "Alex Cross" series, Wincott played Gary Soneji. In most of the early books, he is the nemesis of Alex Cross. But his fate in Along Came a Spider is sealed much too early.

Great. Loved him in count of Monte Cristo

Dorleac: And if you're thinking just now 'Why me, oh God?' the answer is: God has nothing to do with it. In fact, God is never in France this time of year.

Edmond: God has everything to do with it. He's everywhere. He sees everything.

Dorleac: Alright. Let's make a bargain, shall we? You ask God for help and I'll stop the moment he shows up.

His role carried so much weight and was executed so well!

An amazing scene in a beautifully shot film. Win corr was on top form in it. (It’s criminal what they’ve done with the remake)

Ah yes that’s right. How could I forget Alan Rickman?

Yes, Guy of Gisborne. Awesome movie.

Sheriff's lackey

Sheriff's cousin.

Well his accent was better than Costner’s

u/SplendidPunkinButter avatar

It takes place in the year 1194. Modern English and modern British accents didn’t exist yet.

It’s like Amadeus, where technically everyone should be speaking German anyway, so they all just use their normal accents.

lol. Richelieu. Or roshambo. Heard it both ways

Richelieu is the Cardinal, Rochefort is his head of security essentially.

And Richelieu was played by Tim Curry
