Product description
EXCEPTIONAL LATE\-1974 CONCERT FROM DICKEY BETTS GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC SHOW\n• After the death of Duane Allman in late 1971, Dickey Betts became the Allman Brothers Band’s sole guitarist and also took on a greater singing and leadership role. Betts, over the course of one night\x27s traveling, practiced slide guitar intensively in order to cover the majority of Duane\x27s parts. He went on to write ‘Jessica’ and the Allmans\x27 biggest commercial hit, ‘Ramblin\x27 Man’.\n• Betts\x27 first solo album, Highway Call, was released in 1974, and featured fiddle player Vassar Clements. By this time, in large part due to Capricorn Records huge albeit unexpected success, more lucrative than anyone could have dreamed. Betts found himself free to pursue almost anything he desired musically. This situation allowed him to record Highway Call, and to perform with countless great musicians for the pure joy of playing, without any expectations of making money in the process. Over the course of the previous year, Betts had found a true, authentic voice, and had begun to distinguish himself within the ABB as a unique stylist, blending his love for country, bluegrass, western swing, jazz and rock into a style utterly his own \- and one that would soon prove highly influential on all the Southern Rock bands that followed in the Allman Brothers\x27 wake.\n• Betts\x27 Great American Music Show featured many of the players from his solo album, and all these musicians combined to create a show that authentically traced the history of American music. His show at San Francisco’s Winterland Arena on December 14th ’74 became the premier event on the short tour he and his entourage performed at this time, and while previously unreleased the entire event is now available on the 2CD Set for the first time.\nDISC 1 1.
Not sure if they are restricted to my copy or are present on the master, but they are there. Depending on your tolerance for such things, it may or not matter to you. Just wanted to let The Buyer Beware.....I am a lot more forgiving nowadays than I was then and I'm still happy to hear this again as my original is buried in storage. Sound is fine for that time period if you can live with the cuts.
If anyone else runs across this issue, could you please just let the rest of us know? If other people report it then obviously it's there and may determine whether I return it or not.
P.S. Another cut on Hard Time Blues. That's 4 cuts on Disc One alone......Caveat Emptor
