Does anyone know how to somehow reset a lock password code on an 8700 Blackberry (2 years old) without losing all the contacts and data on the phone? I recently found my lost BB and there are #'s and addresses I desperately need. I've used 8 out of 10 tries. After 10 unsuccessful tries it will wipe the handheld...something I desperately do not want to do. I want to be able to back up the data on the phone and then restore it on my current 8700 BB. Anybody have any clues???? I'm desperate!!

I don't think there is a suitable work around. Walk away from the situation for a few days and you will probably remember the passwed. Beyond that, it appears you will be working with an "out of the box" device.

I think you can reload your OS.

Use jl cmdr to wipe your blackberry.

Connect your blackberry without the battery. Wipe it clean. Then reload the OS.

You don't need to use jl_cmdr. That's going to wipe the os off your device. All you have to do is enter the pass wrong until you either get it or it wipes the handheld. Its unfortunate that you loose the contacts but you did learn a lesson. Make backups ritually or you will risk loosing everything at some point.
