PiP MR
I need some advice, I applied for pip on the 27th of February. Had my assessment on the 9th of April. Assessment sent to DWP on the 16th and on the 22nd I received a letter saying they had refused me PIP. 4 points daily living and 4 for mobility. Very quick turn around even to receive the letter of refusal.
I suffer from JIA (Arthritis) from a young age 13 and I am now nearly 23 my condition is currently deteriorating. Suffering from regular flare ups but the constant flare up of my left elbow. MRI scans and evidence all sent to pip.
My assessment only lasted 30 minutes and the assessor was really nice and kept reading things from my PIP forms and talking about the descriptors such as getting dressed she noted I would not be able to dress my upper body we swiftly moved through all the descriptors and I felt she had understood.
On receiving my refusal they only scored me for preparing food 2 points and getting dressed 2 points both with the use of aids which I have never mentioned. I have sent off my MR in detail talking about each descriptor as I need supvervision in the kitchen, getting dressed, washing , toilet needs etc.
The DM put in the decision that because I have a job and can drive an automatic car I’m automatically fine to do the tasks alone scoring 0 points. Even mentioning that the disablement in my left arm doesn’t cause an impact and I should be fine to use the other hand not taking into account the other joints that are flaring up 4/5 times a week. I have supplied heaps of evidence that show they have changed my medication infusions and that my left arm is completely stuck.
I just wanted to know if based of all this information they have made a mistake or if the assessor basically did me over and put a load of lies in the report it seems they did really quickly to turn me down. I don’t know if they are doing this to see if I will just go away. I’m extremely disheartened by this whole process. I did have pip up until last year where they scored me 6 points and denied me I was so upset I left it but as struggles have got worse I have tried again. I was to upset to even get the report to see what she put on there.
Like I mentioned I have sent the MR off as I can’t understand how they can say I need an aid to dress and prepare food when I have to be dressed and food prepared for me. I also use an aid to eat but marked 0 I have to be washed due to my elbow and other joints as I can’t squeeze the provided out or wash myself to an acceptable standard. I did mentioned all descriptors in my MR and mentioned how absurd it is to compare it to having a job and being able to drive !
Has anyone experienced anything similar to me?
Sorry to rant.
