Not only is a devastating winter storm bearing down on his community, but it brings with it one Andre Linoge, a sinister stranger. Linoge, who may just be the devil incarnate, has an uncanny knowledge of all of the town's dark secrets, and he uses that knowledge to drive some of the locals to murder and suicide. With each horrific event, Linoge repeats his demand: "Give me what I want and I'll go away." What he wants, however, is more horrifying still. Read More Read Less Watch on Hulu Stream Now

Chilling performances and an even darker moral dilemma shelter Storm of the Century's somewhat long-winded tale from ever being anything less than watchable.

Hal Boedeker Orlando Sentinel It is the most effective King miniseries the network has presented. In this genuinely unsettling epic, good and evil face off on a small Maine island pounded by a nor'easter in 1989. Jan 15, 2020 Full Review Richard Corliss TIME Magazine King's first original mini-series script is a marathon of communal anxiety with a spooky moral: we are ready to mortgage our children for our own restless comfort. Jan 15, 2020 Full Review Howard Rosenberg Los Angeles Times While entertaining at times, Storm of the Century... rises barely midway up the horror scale. If you're looking for a major fright, in other words, look elsewhere. Jan 15, 2020 Full Review Kristy Strouse Wonderfully Weird and Horrifying It is a mesmerizing horror combining atmospheric tension, compelling characters, and unsettling philosophical inquiries. It is a testament to Stephen King‘s storytelling prowess and shows the power of the human psyche when confronted with darkness. Oct 19, 2023 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Plays to all of King's strengths, with the pacing of the series finally finding a groove as successful as his novels. Creepy and chilly, Colm Feore's performance finds the right blend of all-powerful and disquieting. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Andrew Sanford Pajiba Storm of the Century contains everything there is to love about good Stephen King. Mystery, monsters and Maine are in full swing here. Craig B Storm of the Century is another cracking tale from the Master of Horror, Stephen King. You hardly notice the 4 hour runtime with plenty going on in a story with ever-increasing dread. Plenty of well-realised characters, not least the evil Andre Linoge, played superbly by a creepy Colm Feore. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review X - L This surprised me. I guess with it being an original King Teleplay he wasn't limited by his need to adapt a novel and instead was able to craft the story for a three episode miniseries structure. It's probably one of the best live action King stories I've seen. Despite it being made for network television, the production and performances were top notch! Highly recommended! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Dan R The 'Storm of the Century' (1999) mini series is based on the Stephen King story of the same name. SYNOPSIS: 'A dangerous blizzard hits an isolated town and brings along a mysterious stranger intent on terrorizing people for his own desires.' I'd already seen this mini series many times before but I recently decided to watch it again on VOD where it was available as a 4hr + film. SOTC is probably the most effective King miniseries which came out of US TV networks in the 1990s. Like it's source material this is a genuinely unsettling epic story, a story of good vs evil in a small Maine island. If you wanted to pigeon hole King adaptions SOTC delivers on everything you'd expect to see: mystery, monsters and Maine. A really enjoyable watch. 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Suspenseful, entertaining, and thought provoking. On the surface, watching this movie seems like a bear to watch at over 4 hours in length, but it was intended to be viewed in hour long segments over the course of 5 weeks during the winter (including commercials). This is not a movie at all, its a mini series, much like all of stephen kings made for tv work (it, tommyknockers, the shining [reboot], rose red, etc.). I actually watched this initially in that format with my family and it was a really good format and kept the pacing at a decent clip. To boot, i think i was 12 when i watched this during a New England winter. The movie still holds up and i have watched it in its entirety 6 or 7 times. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review montique d Probably the most Stephen King of Stephen King adaptations. This movie is disturbing and it's twisted and it's overall just going to leave you sitting down looking at your TV screen wondering what the hell happened. Great Miniseries.
