Which is the best Loose Powder?

Product Question

Between the Laura Mercier translucent powder, Huda Easy Bake loose powder and Givenchy Prisme Libre loose powder which one is the best and why? How they compare to the each other in case anyone has tried all?

Please drop your reviews and comparisons 🙏🏻 and mention your skin type and whether you use it over only skincare/sunscreen to remove oiliness/shininess or if you use it over make-up to set it, or both!

Laura Mercier is translucent but the other Huda & Givenchy are supposed to be matt finish. Does that make a difference, is any suited more towards oily skin / glowy finish vs dry skin/matt finish? Which one gives a silky finish (no glitter, and not cakey/matt either)?

I know price points are different, but I don't mind that and simply want to know which is the best one and why, or if there's no difference besides brand name and marketing.

Thank you!!

I really love the Hourglass loosen powder, it is so finely milled and leaves a naturally radiant finish to the skin. I like it better than Laura Mercier, which is fine but a little finicky about the foundations I use underneath.

Ahh I haven't considered that! Will look into it thanks! Which foundation do you use underneath?

I haven't found a foundation that hasn't worked with hourglass yet! Koh gen do, Armani luminous silk, Chanel water fresh, chantecaille tint, Chanel no 1, all looked good. Laura m seemed less compatible when I wore the danessa m skin tint and Prada foundation, but looked flawless when topping mizon bb cream.

You have convinced to try out the hourglass since I use the Chantecaille tint and Chanel water fresh.

They have a mini! I hope you enjoy it!

Combination skin here. Laura Mercier never worked for me, even though I really really wanted to like it. Huda is alright but feels heavy on my skin. Givenchy a clear winner of the three for me here. It's light, never emphasizes my dry patches.

Oops, forgot... in response to your questions, I use over makeup to set and finish. Huda will feel the most makeupy of the three and probably most mattifying. Laura Mercier and Givenchy will be more translucent and feel lighter. I feel like the Givenchy is more finely milled.

That sounds really promising, and worth trying. Thanks for sharing! A couple of follow up questions if you don't mind! 1. Is it solid in setting the make up? 2. Do you just mix the powders from all the 4 quadrants and apply together or do you apply different quads on different areas of the face?

  1. For me yes! I used to be a pressed powder girl because I thought loose powders were too messy but this one sets my makeup so well. It’s my go-to when I need to look my best. 2. I mix it all together.

Givenchy in Voile Rose is the GOAT.

The LM has talc in it and I’ve always thought that it feels heavy.

Givenchy is nice but it’s been years since I’ve used it.

I currently am using the Chanel loose powder and it lasts forever. I’m probably going to try the hourglass one mentioned above.

Try La Mer - it's truly gorgeous and lasts forever. Only one I've ever tried that I liked better was discontinued years ago (Armani), and I've been hoarding my last jar. Suqqu Oil-Rich Glow Powder is also quite beautiful (despite the name, there is no shimmer or "glow"), but between the Suqqu and La Mer, I prefer La Mer.
