Family of jailed Cuban dissident José Daniel Ferrer denied visiting rights again

Once again, Castro, Inc. has prevented José Daniel Ferrer’s wife and children from visiting him in prison. This unrelenting punishment is intentional, designed to crush him and his family. As his wife put it: “They are determined to continue burying him slowly and snuffing the life out of him. Not only the prisoner but also the family, we are accompanied by uncertainty, anxiety, anguish, mental torture, anger, frustration.”

Political prisoner José Daniel Ferrer García has not been in frequent contact with his family for over a year, and once again, the authorities at the maximum-security prison Mar Verde, in Santiago de Cuba, denied him a family visit, as confirmed by Nelva Ismaray Ortega Tamayo, through an audio sent to CubaNet.

According to Ferrer García’s wife, on May 6th, she went with her four-year-old son Daniel José and her stepdaughter Fátima Victoria to the Mar Verde prison intending to see the political prisoner. However, they only accepted the package with food, hygiene products, toiletries, and some medications.

“The same tactic used for over a year to deny and violate his right to receive both family and conjugal visits, as well as phone calls,” Ortega Tamayo stated.

The doctor also recounted that on May 3rd, the conjugal visit, known as the “pabellón,” was due, and it was also denied to them. According to her, “a type of psychological torture not only for my husband but also for us, his family.”

They are determined to continue burying him slowly and snuffing the life out of him.. Not only the prisoner but also the family, we are accompanied by uncertainty, anxiety, anguish, mental torture, anger, frustration (…) wondering how he is, where he is, what they have done to him, is he on a hunger strike, is he beaten,” Ortega Tamayo expressed.

Likewise, Ferrer’s wife called for international solidarity to maintain support and denounce the abuses suffered by José Daniel Ferrer in prison. She also asserted that they will continue “demanding proof of life, being able to see and hear him, as well as his freedom because he is innocent.”
