How to log in to WhatsApp Web using your phone number

WhatsApp has recently launched a new feature that allows users to authenticate their accounts on WhatsApp Web using their phone numbers. This update aims to simplify the process of connecting the web version with the mobile app, providing users with an alternative method of logging in.

To take advantage of this new functionality, users are advised to follow a simple step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Update WhatsApp

Ensure that you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your smartphone. If you haven’t already done so, visit your respective app store and update the application to access the feature.

Step 2: Access ‘Linked Devices’

Open WhatsApp on your device and navigate to the “Linked Devices” menu. On Android, you can find this option by tapping on the three vertical dots located in the top-right corner of the screen. For iOS users, the option can be found at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Select “Link with phone number instead”

Within the “Account” settings, locate the “Link with Phone Number” option and tap on it to initiate the linking process. A prompt will appear, asking you to enter an 8-digit code.

Step 4: Obtain the code

To obtain the code, visit the WhatsApp Web platform and click on the “Link with Phone Number” option. The platform will provide you with the 8-digit code required for authentication.

Step 5: Log in to WhatsApp Web

Once you have the code, enter it into the prompt on your mobile device. After this step, you will be able to successfully log in to WhatsApp Web.

Previously, users were required to scan a QR code using an active WhatsApp account on their smartphone in order to log in to WhatsApp Web. While this process is generally quick and straightforward, it can be problematic if users encounter issues with their phone cameras.

With the new phone number authentication feature, WhatsApp aims to provide users with a convenient alternative, making the process of connecting to WhatsApp Web easier and more accessible.
