Wold, Rev. David Thomas age 72 of Arden Hills, MN, died unexpectedly on April 12, 2018, from a sudden illness. He was born on June 22, 1945 to Edna and Rev. Orville Wold in Wadena, MN. Dave was married to Catherine Eikeland on December 27, 1974 and had 3 children and 10 grandchildren. He was a graduate of St. Olaf College and Luther Seminary. Ordained in 1971, he first served alongside his father at St. Timothy Lutheran in St. Paul before being called to Calvary Lutheran in Golden Valley. He then directed the Youth Ministries division of the national offices in the American Lutheran Church. In 1983, he was called to Augsburg College as the Director of Campus Ministries, where he served faithfully for 30 years. God worked through "Pastor Dave" in ministry with the Augsburg community by presiding at daily chapel and weekly Eucharist, coordinating Advent Vespers, announcing basketball, football and wrestling contests, directing the Bunch of Guys Chorus, founding the Holy Hoops basketball league and supporting and uplifting daily campus life. In addition to church ministry, Dave and Cathy were instrumental in the building of a school in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. He treasured his times at Lakes Kabekona and Johanna. Dave was known for his unique ability to tie thousands of jokes and puns into conversation when prompted by a word or topic, but he was also serious about the love he had for his roots, his state, his colleges, his church, his family and his God. Dave believed God inspires us to value, build and cherish relationships. He showed genuine enthusiasm in others and their interests, from longtime friends to those he had just met. Dave is preceded in death by his parents. His legacy lives on through his wife, Cathy; children, Rebecca Wold (Sedge) Freeman, Rachel Wold (Jimmy) McArthur, Nick (Lindsey) Wold; grandchildren Stellan and Liv Freeman, Elliott, Finn, Catherine and Mae McArthur, Grace, Peter, Paul and Julia Wold; sister Mary Wold (Dr. David) Bartsch and many more beloved family members and friends. Visitation on April 18, 5-7pm and funeral service on April 19, 11am with visitation one hour prior; all at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave. S., St. Paul. Lunch and burial to follow.
