Don Barnes is the founding member and singer/guitarist for Southern Rock Legends .38 Special. He started the band in the 70’s with his best friend Donny Van Zant and while Donny can’t tour anymore, Don has kept it going some 50 years into the band’s history. Donny had to leave the road due to inner ear nerve damage, but Don Barnes assured us they still talk every day and he’s doing better and better every day.
He’s been exposed to all these 6 foot amplifiers and the Mayo Clinic told him there’s nothing they can do. They told him that ‘you have very few nerve fibers left of your inner ear, if you continue doing what you’re doing you’re going to be absolutley stone deaf and there’s nothing we can do for you.
He also goes on to talk about the history of the band and how WAPL and .38 Special have a straight line through rock and roll history. He’s very excited to be back in Wisconsin and headlining the WAPL Xmas Bash for 2023.
The fans in Wisconsin have always come out, they’re manic fans, they’re always hungry for it and we love to come there. Green Bay is a great city too and through the years we’ve had a lot of history together. We’re really looking forward to it. Everybody make it out, we’re going to have a large time together, it’s going to be the holidays, time to let go and bring in that new year.
